a question about a party Level

Im current DMing for 6 players...... all players are LvL 09.
Its hard to Believe that the party Lvl is 9.......... is that right, or there is another way (beside the DMG way)?

The party is indeed level 9; they're just a big party. They are the equivalent of a party of 4 10th-level pcs (6 @ CR 9= ~EL 14; 4 @ CR 10= EL 14).

Why do you say it's hard to believe that they're a 9th level party? Keep in mind that an EL x encounter is designed to deplete around 20-25% of an x-level party, it isn't supposed to be a close battle.

i think i didnt said all, i said its hardy to believe that the DMG is the right way to calculate PL, because by doing so 100 players of level 9 are a lvl 9 party, and no way they are going to spend 20% of their resources

I'm afraid you're mistaken there sanches. The DMG outlines XP for a party of FOUR PCs at that level. A party of six PCs at 9th would be considered equivalent to a party of four at 10th level as the JEster alread ypointed out. If you read the text in this section it explains this. Hope that helps ya mate.

Actually if you're talking about the system for awarding XP by CR and party level (pg. 166 of the DMG), the number of people in the party does not affect the party level. What it does affect is the amount of XP each character gains (since you divide total XP gained by no. of PCs) and slows down their advancement. It evens out quite well.

The Jester's point applies when you're trying to work out what EL an encounter should be at to challenge a larger party.
