A question about beer.

Hi there.

Does anyone here know if you can take beer in and out of a fridge without ruining it?

My friends come over every two weeks to play DnD and I have a fridge for their beer. My intention is to only have the fridge on during game day and have it off the rest of the time.

My understanding is once its cold, if it warms it will skunk and spoil.

The operative word is COOL. Most traditional brewers (ie everyone outside of the US) advice keeping the kegs in a cool dry place, which is why most Americans think of European beer as 'warm'. The truth is it's cool, just not usually ice cold. So if you store the beer inside your house instead of in a garage or out building it should be ok. (unless you like your house sauna-like) Actually keeping it in a refrigerator that is turned off is a bad choice because humidity will build up and the heat will skunk it.

If I recall correctly, the temperature is not much of an issue for modern, mass-produced beers. You can temperature cycle your Schlitz 'till you're blue in the face, and you won't make it taste any worse :p

You should skip that step, and get your beer pre-cycled, like Budweiser. Make sure it's as many cycles as possible, for maximum crappiness.

Of course you can't make it taste any better either. :D I mean really, how can horse whiz taste any worse than it already does? :)
