A question about Castlemourn

I have read that this setting has a "big secret", which is the cause of the apocalypse. Is this secret explained in the main campaign book?

Every time I look through the shelves at my FLGS, there is a copy of Castlemourn that keeps calling out to me.

Besides the oh so creepy animated book problem at that store, I've wondered if others have GM'ed the setting and what they thought about it.

So do we have any experienced GM's from Castlemourn?

I don't think that it ever had much of a chance to find an audience as, IIRC, it was released at about the same time that D&D 4e was announced.

I believe that it was out for at least a year before 4E was announced.

I helped edit the book, and while I cannot shed any light on this particular question (I think the answer is no), I can say that I helped eliminate what would have been perceived as a very annoying mechanic that ran throughout the book. It was replaced by something much less annoying, but don't ask me anything about it since I didn't help with that part and haven't really checked it out.

I think its a great book now. The layout is also greatly revamped from the crapfest that Fast Forward Entertainment gave it. People would seriously still be laughing about the setting if they had seen it in its original form.

The book has a lot of secrets and none of them are answered. That's up to the DM. THe book though uses them as reasons to quest and seek adventure. It is a pretty cool setting. I have a review of it on the review site. :D

I would still like to see the timeline that is mentioned in the book. The book states that MWP would be posting it on their website but that has yet to happen.

It's noted on the forums at candlekeep.com that there is more stuff to come for the setting which I'm pleased about as I think it still has a lot of potential (and I'm not switching to 4E so I'm not worried about whether or not it's for the updated edition).
