A question for Aussies

Hey there,

I was just about to update the e-Sprawl's news page (Digital Globe) and I was wondering what all happened with that airport illness scare. It's mentioned at channelnewsasia.com, but there is nothing up front on Aussie Google News?

Everything cool down under? This would be a good way for me to be introduced to decent australian news portals.

Umm when you say the airport illness thing, are you referring to the mysterious situation that occurred in Melbourne where they had to shut down some terminals because people were getting sick?

Last I heard, the problem had settled down the next day and they could not work out what had caused it. Then I think the story died a quick death as the airline who was affected was none to impressed by the delays and cancellations the closure caused. That plus the refunds/free trips they had to give passengers to make up for the inconvinience.

Thanks for the info and the links.

This is highly unusual when a HazMat team is involved but they can't give an explanation. These people aren't the keystone cops.

I wonder what the final verdict will be.

Bad food was the most recent theory I heard.

There is still no discernible cause, and the symptoms don't seem to correspond to any known sort of poisoning. People are beginning to speculate that it might have been a combination of suggestion and mass hysteria.

I dunno about the whole "mass hullucination" thing, but I would buy that a small number of people got sick from food then the Aussie emergency people going into a sudden 'bird flu' panic.
