A question of religion in FR

At best, a Paladin serving Kelemvor would refuse to associate with a cleric of death such as this one. At worst, he'd put a stop to him, as he would to any evil-doer.

Why on earth would the paladin refuse to associate with a cleric of death? One of Kelemvor's own domains is the Death domain.

The key words (that I didn't emphasize) is "such as this one." Kelemvor is all about natural death, and respecting the dead, and doesn't tolerate creating undead or death sacrifices. Part of Kelemvor's dogma is:

Help others die with dignity at their appointed time and no sooner.

Granted, a LE cleric of Kelemvor might take a very liberal interpretation of one's appointed time. But not a Paladin of Kelemvor.

Re

Kelemvor no longer has the death domain, he now has the Repose domain. Very similar to death, but subtly different to reflect Kelemvor's different philosophy.

The Repose domain is in the Faiths and Pantheons.

Repose also appears in Deities and Demigods. It's the "non-evil" version of the Death domain. Compare:

Death:
Granted Power: Death Touch
1: Cause Fear
2: Death Knell
3: Animate Dead
4: Death Ward
5: Slay Living
6: Create Undead
7: Destruction
8: Create Greater Undead
9: Wail of the Banshee

Spells with the [Evil] descriptor: 4

Repose:
Granted Power: Death Touch
1: Deathwatch
2: Gentle Repose
3: Speak with the Dead
4: Death Ward
5: Slay Living
6: Undeath to Death
7: Destruction
8: Surelife
9: Wail of the Banshee

Spells with the [Evil] descriptor: 0

Now, these are from memory, so I may have made a mistake or two, but I think Repose is accurate.
