A Question with Both Hands

First off I apologize if this is a point made previous or should have been placed somewhere else.

My question involves Ambidexterity. And the current lack thereof in the rules. When switching to 3.5 WOTC merged it with the ever useful Two-Weapon Fighting. My concern is can you still have ambidexterity without taking "TWF"? I have two main reasons why I ask this 1) The feat actually has no reference to the use of both hands except witjhin a combat scenario. 2) I am living proof that not all people with Ambidexterity can fight with both hands at the same time. Actually let me lay all the cards on the table. I am playing a Elven Rogue/Sorcerer using the 3.0 Apprentice Level info. So I only get one feat. And as much as I like "TWP" there are just other things that would be more appropriate. I just wanted to figure if I was barking up the wrong tree or what. Thanks.

No, if you're playing in 3.5 there is no Ambidexterity outside of the Two-Weapon Fighting feat. I believe the Glossary still has an entry for "off hand" where it further explains that each character has a weaker hand (usually the left).

Though it no longer affects skills, only attack rolls and Str bonus to damage.

I just allow players to say what handed they are. Right, left, ambi, whatever. It doesnt make any numerical difference, simply a flavor preference.

That is what I thought. Ambidexterity just means you can use either hand equally well. Whereas "TWF" is actually a pretty potent combat advantage. And all I wanted was the flavor and didn't really care about the combat end.
