A Simple Errand (DM:renau1g, Judge: covaithe)

Dorn frowns at this latest development, uncomfortable with the idea of taking a hostage. But he figures the others know what they are doing, and follows along behind.

Ok, that's two people saying they're ok with the plan. Once I get at least one more we'll move into the cave(rns). [/sblock]

Like life, death, and nature itself, Crag was neutral on the subject of taking a hostage. He did not believe that it was an evil act in and of itself, but rather it was was transpired because of that action. If the kobolds wanted to take the gnome as a hostage, perhaps it would make it a little easier to get through the cave(rns) undisturbed. The quicker they could destroy the staff the better!

"Take the gnome or don't take the gnome. That's your choice, Jax. But let us move on toward our goal so that we can be rid of this cursed staff."

[sblock=ooc] Crag is okay with the hostage plan. [/sblock]

Ingot swivels its head around to see how the others react to Jax's plan. It seems a little bit confused. When Crag voices approval, Ingot nods. "Very well, let's go in then."

"Just be lucky, gnome-boy, that my friends are more civilized folk. If you were captured when I was generaling the Great Beetle Campaign, let's just say you wouldn't be getting off so lightly." Meepo falls in line with the others. Prepared for a fight, he adjusts his shield and keeps his whip drawn.

The group continues into the caves, which quickly become worked stone and leads to a set of stairs leading deeper into the earth. In front of you, stones are piled high and block the path leading forward. As you get here the gnome shouts out "Boss, they're coming!" and braces for any repercussions. If hit by anyone, he disappears from sight.

Veneficus says "Let's go, they know we're coming now" pointing to the top of the stones and the path that leads beyond.

You hear hurried voices beyond, Dorn and Ingot recognize it as some sort of arcane or divine chanting or ritual going on.

The halflings are studying a mass of melted silver, engraved with Supernal hieroglyphics, that seals the two doors together. Traces of six similar seals, now broken, line the seam between the doors. [/sblock]

[sblock=Terrain]
Ceiling: 10 feet high.

Illumination: The excavators’ lanterns shed bright light that fills the chamber.

Fallen Rocks: Rocks fill the 2-square-wide area directly in front of the stairs. A character must climb up the rocks (Athletics DC 5), squeeze through the
space they occupy, and then drop 8 feet to enter the main chamber. A creature gains cover while squeezing in squares filled with rocks.

Rubble: These squares are difficult terrain.[/sblock]

[sblock=the gnome]Is the gnome still pretty beat up from the last fight? If so, I'm tempted to knock him out right now (and choose for the attack to be nonlethal if he goes down).[/sblock]
Jax is quite taken aback by the hostage's uncooperativeness. He grips his dagger tightly and prepares to thwack the gnome's head with the hilt.

Jax thinks better of his attack. The mages are far more of a threat than a helpless gnome. "Argh, just leave then! Before I have to stab you!"

He looks back to Crag. "I'm right behind you!"

[sblock=Crag]I'm not going to be the first one to go over that wall, lol. I'll delay until you're up front.[/sblock]

[sblock=Jax] Just the way I like it :) [/sblock]

Crag climbs the rock in front of him with ease and squeezes through the space at the top. Dropping down on the other side, the warforged tries to determine where the enemy is, what they are doing, and who the best one is for Jax to target with his crossbow.

[sblock=Actions]

-Minor: Draw sword

-Move: Crag moves up to and then climbs up the rocks. (what a waste of a crit).

- Move/Standard: If a movement of 6 is not enough to allow Crag to drop onto the other side and keep moving, then Crag will double move. If the first move action was enough for this, and an enemy is within charging distance, Crag will charge the enemy (you can roll for Crag's attack [+10 (w/ charge bonus) vs AC; 1d8+5 damage])

- Free: If Crag charges an enemy, he will mark him as a free action at the end of his charge.
