A Tour of The Largest Hobbytown in America

Aeson

I am the mysterious professor.

The description says it's a converted 7 screen theater. It was 8 screens. šŸ˜ I used to go to this theater a lot as a kid. I only went to the Hobbytown once. I had no idea it is considered the largest. Maybe I need to go back some time. It's been years.

So many memories at our local Hobbytown. Decent selection of GW stuff, a variety of RPGs.
It was going to move into an abandoned movie theater as well - a 2 screen place in the same shopping center. Then a fire came and gutted the movie theater and destroyed all the stock at the Hobbytown. So that never happened, and Hobbytown didn't come back. Today, we barely have a game store at all in my community.
Today, the movie theater has been converted to a non-denominational church and the former Hobbytown sells overpriced smoothies made out of Brussels sprouts or something.

"...Once there were parking lots
Now, it's a peaceful oasis
You got it, you got it
This was a Pizza Hut
Now, it's all covered with daisies
You got it, you got it
I miss the honky tonks
Dairy Queens and Seven-Elevens
You got it, you got it
And as things fell apart
Nobody paid much attention
You got it, you got it.."

;)

WHO WE ARE

The HobbyTown story begins in Lincoln, NE (where our national headquarters remains today). Thom Walla, Merlin Hayes and Mary Hayes founded HobbyTown Unlimited, Inc. in 1985 and opened the first franchise store in 1986. Today, HobbyTown franchise stores span the U.S. from coast to coast, making us the leader in the retail hobby and specialty toy industry.
With more than 100 HobbyTown franchise stores in over 35 states in the continental U.S., we're the largest brick and mortar hobby retailer in the world and we are always looking for more opportunities to share the love of hobbies. If you think you (or someone you know) would be a good candidate to own and run a HobbyTown, you can find out information about franchising by clicking the button below.
