A truly geeky observation

I thought it was weird when it occurred to me that you could legitimately call a doppelganger a "replacer beast."

Until I realized that you could legitimately call a displacer beast a "dopplerganger."

Except that while beast is a generic term and could concievably be applied to dopplegangers, what the heck is a "ganger"?
