Attached is my variant marshal. This is the version I use for my home campaigns most of the time. No one has ever played a marshal, but I have used it for bad guys and it works well. It eliminates the dipping problem that the previous class had while still being useful at lower levels. He also has no dead levels. All in all, I believe it is pretty coherently designed and more balanced than the 1-level wonder the previous marshal was.
