I am fairly certain the mage used a short range teleportation spell of some sort. He could have easily teleported out of the room. The range on such spells is usually no more for several hundred feet. However, he could be anywhere by now and he most likely has the important parts of the research. Nuria says to the group.

A low growl of frustration escapes from Wulfcume's mouth as he hears the white wizard's pronosis.

Moving to the upstairs vault door, he asks, 'How could these Tarkanans get in wit'out a key like we have? Mayhap they can't escape wit' out one? No matter, are we goin' back to Grey? Or we gonna try ta open this here new door? Forward o' back? Which way?'

Nuria absently tugs on her left earlobe while thinking about their choices. Choice #1, investigate what is behind the other door, which could be very interesting, or, choice #2, go back and tell Dean Grey that someone else found the research. If they went with choice #2, their employment would end and she would not get the chance to read all these interesting papers, some of which might contain information on her heritage.

I suggets we continue on through the other door. I wish to delay reporting to the Dean that someone else has taken the research.

Nuria's face brightens as she adds: Besides, there could be all kinds of interesting things behind the other door. Arcane items, research papers, and more!

The large warrior furrowed his brow in thought, a frown upon his face. The White Wizard had a point...but. They had to find the papers.

Clearing his throat, Wulfcyne asked Nuria,'Mayhap tha Maegi done an' traveled back tha way we came? I says Nuria checks tha new vault, while me an' Valahandra go an' check tha chamber we were at afore this one, fer anythin' amiss. What say ye others?"

"It should be easy enough to check the prior chamber first before we all continue. There is no need to seperate now." Valahandra says.

The looming warrior nodded at the Devout Elf, responding, 'As ye wish me lady. Come, let us check it out.'

Looking to the Gray skinned hobgoblin, Wulfcyne gives a bark of laughter as he comments, 'That there is!'

The human will descend the latter and go to the large door he so recently closed; attempting to open it and then peer out into the study room they first appeared in, looking for the Mage who disappeared, Spot! (1d20-1=11)
