Nuria activates the key and you all appear in the hallways right next to Dean Grey's office, the bustle of college life still very much taking place around you. The Dean sees you and greets you warmly. " Ah, I trust thing went swimmingly?"
He sees your sour faces and Wulfcyne near busting with frustration. " Oh...some sort of roadblock, then?
Nuria politely addresses the Dean, We nearly had the documents esteemed Dean. However, as my companion has stated, we were beaten to them by a rival. They described themselves as members of House Tarkanan. I am curious to know how they were allowed access to the vaults. We were given the impression that only our group was allowed access to the vaults to search for the documents. Is there another person at this fine University that has contracted with other groups to find this research? Just how valuable is this research? My travelling companion Wulfcyne was nearly killed for this information.
Obviously suppressing the urge to bellow, the warrior spits through gritted teeth, 'Yer door took one mighty dislike ta me, Master Grey. Damn Tarkanan Maegi magick'd himself an' tha info away too ta boot.'
Calming somewhat, Wulfcyne continues, 'Me thinkin' is tha Tarkanan was hired outta Sharn by Cannith tha' came ta see us'in. We ain't sure where'in tha Maegi took tha papers.'
Dean Grey looks puzzled " hmm, well you were the only ones I had given access to the vault itself. As for the door, I had left it propped open for you, the only way the trap could have gone off is if you had shut the door and I hadn't figured you would lock yourselves in!! But House Tarkanan you say, this is very strange. Abberrant marks... I have read a good deal about them. I have no clue as their motives. Perhaps they are hired by Cannith or even Kundarak. But it may be that they are on their own. Could you imagine what Tarkanan could do with the informaton to make already destructive dragonmarks even more powerful.... its maddening I tell you.
Dean Grey, can you think of anyone else at the University that could have given them access? If there is someone else here working against you, that could present many problems. Especially if they get ahold of the research and sell it to the highest bidder. The major houses alone would pay many thousands of gold pieces for the information. As for the illegitimate houses like Tarkanan, I do not relish the idea of them getting more power than they currently have. In my opinion, they do not deserve the status already granted to them.
Wulfcyne raises a confused eyebrow at Nuria, but ignores her comments and offersn respectfully, 'Masta Grey, mayhap this Tarkannan wizard delvin' deeper in yon vaults, is tha' possible? Need ye us ta return therein? Wha' ye think our next step should be? Also, can ye be warnin' us o' any other traps me may face?' this last the warrior asks imploringly.
