Abjurant Champion question

The primary problem with the Abjurant Champion is, of course, the fact that they don't work as written. Since Shield and Mage Armor aren't Abjuration spells, they shouldn't gain the bonus.

Do people just ignore this, or what?

Shield is abjuration, though mage armor isn't. We considered allowing it for mage armor, but it seemed plenty strong with just shield that we decided against it. I do think the designer thought mage armor was abjuration, though.

There's an abjuration spell in BoED that gives an armor bonus, so you can play it as intended without house ruling mage armor. You'll be glowing like crazy, though, so forget about stealth for the PC in question.
