Able Learner Feat

I don't have RoD, so perhaps I am missing some key information.

But from what I know, Able Learner is a feat that makes *all* skills cost the same as class skills. This sounds pretty darn powerful to me, am I missing something?

It also doesn't give you any extra points with which to buy those skills. I don't know about you, but I'm never thinking, "man, I have all these skill points and no skills to buy with them..."

Not really.

For single-class characters, it makes you a jack of more trades, but you can still only master your class skills.

It's quite good for multi-classed characters, though. If a skill is a class skill for any of your classes, you can buy up to character level +3 ranks in that skill with the skill points from any class.

Power considerations aside, I like it because it makes bookkeeping a lot easier.

It's also human-only (well, and doppelganger ) and 1st-level-only.

And the people who could get the most use out of it (those with poor class-skill lists) get the fewest skill points. The only time I've seen it used to great effectiveness was with high INT arcane tricksters keeping their rogue skills up.

Uhm? Arcane tricksters have quite a class skill list, really.

It's a great feat for wizards IMHO.

Except for those 5 levels of wizard which you have to take to qualify.

That's right, but usually they have plenty to use their skill points on, even for those levels, like getting Decipher Scipt to 7, and Spellcraft, Concentration to max, some Knowledge. And if you mix the rogue levels in, every here and there, you can also keep up the most important rogue skills by spending 2 skill points per rogue level on those. It's not like you get more skill points when you have the feat, you will still have to figure out what skills to learn from the vast list.

In a similar light, Able Learner is pretty cool for Rogue 1 / Anyclass X characters, however.
