About Contingency

Trust me I'm all for uber-munchkin effects! I talked specifically about this spell with the designers at Origins (Jeff Grubb, Monte Cook) when 3rd Edition came out, and they described it's use as I've illustrated. I've got no "personal" beef with you using it as you've described. I'm just letting you know what I've heard.

It's no sin to come from those experiences, I come from all three myself. As a matter of fact, I was really pointing out what happened to me. I came into the spell with "blinders" on from my understanding of earlier editions of the game.

If you want to really uber-munch. Throw in the deathguard spell from Old Empires (FR) 2nd Edition, that allows you to negate any "killing strike" and set that as your trigger for contingency. Makes for very fun, very suicidal, mages. Deathguard, Contingency, Teleport!
