About the voting booth...

I was wondering too...

After a day of deliberation, I personally just cast my vote. Won't say what I voted for, but it was not 'Catch as Catch Can.' Actually, when I saw the results I was pretty startled to see how many votes there were for it. I thought, "Am I missing something here?" I went back and read 'CaCC' again and sure enough, I didn't like it as much as some of the other entries. Being somewhat naive about these things, and assuming nobody on EN World would cheat a contest like that, I just figured y'all liked CaCC better than I did. Now that you mention it though, maybe there is something fishy going on here.

Yeah, the voting has basically forced me to read all of the entries. I printed them out and read them last night. Took a while to go through and pick one out of the bunch, but I did. And, when I was finished, I cast my vote... If nothing else this whole contest has given me some awesome ideas for encounters in my own games.

Thanks to all of the participants!

I've been watching the voting on and off all day. Noticed several of the contestants take sudden jumps upward, not just "Catch". I suspect that the only way to get a fair result is to totally redo the vote with some sort of IP screening in place. Actually, even that is probably not sufficient. Perhaps a panel of judges?

While we are thinking about redoing things, I find it hard to compare a EL 2 encounter to an EL 18 one. I have a pretty good idea of what works and what doesnt at EL 2, but very little idea how balanced an EL 18 encounter is. (Is an invulnerable travelling Golden Egg overpowered? I dont have the foggiest.) I'd like to see the entries broken up by level; then I'd feel more comfortable voting for the ELs I have a good sense of.

I noticed two significant increases - one for L'amour de Erinyes, and the second (more significant) for CaCC (the lamest of the bunch, IMHO).

Yes, it is sad that it came to this, but I'm not surprised - especially when free loot is involved.

My suggestion - have those that entered vote - only - and vote by email to Morrus. With two stipulations - each entrant can not vote for their own entry, and they get 6 votes each. Morrus could take everyones vote, do the weighted balance thing, and then determine the 6 winners.

He could vote himself, and the board moderators could vote, too.

This sounds like a good idea, while it keeps the public at large from voting, it also makes it an entirely secure election.

Dude, have you ever received 420 emails at once in your Inbox? Please don't ask Russ to accept emails for votes. :)

I would suggest a poll on the boards would be best, actually. Maybe there's some sort of poll software somewhere we could use that is secure.
