Accouterments in setting design

Accouterments- Item,Equiment, or dress.

Now I read a thread over on the RPG Site about using these in RPG setting design.

I wrote an article on my blog about it you can read it here.

Basically the idea is that you come up with a basic setting idea and then use accouterments to build the setting. Here's and example:
Western Sci-magic setting

Iconic(mythic/rare/legendary): Totemic Magic,Light Riders

Romatic(more common): Six-Guns,Winchester boltgun, Enchanted weapons,Mythic stories that come true

Valance(basically window dressing for flavor): chained cuffs, polysteel dusters, genetically altered horses,float trains, energy magazines,slipwagons, sweat lodges, ghost catchers

So, I was just looking for more input/opinions on the idea and share it with those who might find it interesting (if any).
