RPG Print News – Free League, Chaosium, and Cubicle 7 Starter Sets

I’m on vacation, so not every game this week is new. Instead, here are a selection of starter sets and core rule collections if you’re looking for a new RPG to try. Many of these RPGs have links to reviews as well. I have read or played all these systems except for Avatar and recommend all of them based on my experience and other reviews.

For anyone who owns it: is the Bladerunner Starter Set playable for more than a session or two? As in, does it provide enough information play a short campaign with?

It's really just one adventure - it should take 1-4 sessions, depending on how quickly your group plays, and the kinds of choices they make. There's nothing much to allow you to continue the campaign without the core rules, but its a great starting point.

Thanks. it is a little pricey for that, I think.

The production values are great, with well made handouts and the adventure is pretty good with a lot of options. For the cost it was a great purchase since our group is most likely not going to actually play a full campaign so I didn't see the need for the full core book. But if you want to actually run a campaign I'd probably go for the core book instead.

The Case File that's included shouldn't take more than a session to complete (4-ish hours, depending on your players), and it's very good. It's the first adventure in a planned series of connected stories. There is barely enough to run a longer campaign, if you develop it yourself. All that said, it's a really good game and the box set is worth the investment, even if you get the hardcover book.

Is there an adventure in the Core book, and if so is it connected to the Starter Set adventure?

Is there an adventure in the Core book, and if so is it connected to the Starter Set adventure?

From the Free League website there is a follow up adventure from the one in the starter:
Following the same deluxe format and packaging as the award-winning Case File 01: Electric Dreams, included in the Blade Runner RPG Starter Set, Case File 02: Fiery Angels features a new thrilling investigative scenario and a host of in-world handouts, photos, maps and more.

I saw that. I was just wondering if their was a scenario in the core book.
