Acolytes of Pain

Amnarii

First Post
Okay, first a new skill this class utilizes;

New Skill: Knowledge (Pain):
(Class skill for Bards and Wizards, Cross-class for all others)

With this applied knowledge, a character knows both how to resist and how to inflict great pain. This skill has no application towards damage caused; the greatest of pains result in little to no actual damage.

Special: Any success on a skill check with this skill (with a DC the same as the second skill or the saving throw) may be applied as a pain bonus to any other skill check involving pain (which includes, but might not be limited to, the Bluff, Intimidate, and/or Sense Motive skills), or as a competency bonus on any saving throws vs. pain.

Now, the PrC itself . . .

Acolytes of Pain

. . . . insert flavor text here . . . .

The acolytes of pain are complete and total masochists (and usually a bit sadistic as well), completely loving the sensory overload we call pain. They give themselves fully over to pain, causing themselves small wounds (and scars) more often than their enemies. Though not all enjoy causing pain as much as receiving it, many are quite skilled in the arts of torture and battle. The acolytes of pain come from all walks of life, and the more demented and/or tormented members of virtually any race or class is equally suited to join their ranks.

Requirements:

Feats:

Iron Will
Great Fortitude
Endurance

Skills:
Concentrate: 4 ranks
Intimidate: 4 ranks
Knowledge (Pain): 6 ranks

Special: the acolyte must relish pain, and prove this to a member of the order. Only Masters may induct a new acolyte into the ranks, and they usually handle all training for their student until she herself becomes a master.

(At 1st level, an Acolyte of Pain is considered to be an initiate. At 2nd through 4th level the Acolyte of Pain is considered to be an apprentice. At 5th through 7th level, the Acolyte of Pain has is considered to be . . . an acolyte. At the 8th level, she becomes a Master of Pain.)

Savor the Pain: For every point of damage the acolyte took in the previous round (up to twice her level), she may add a +1 pain bonus to her saving throws roll(s) this round. This is an extraordinary ability, which may be used at will.

Share the Pleasure: For every point of damage the acolyte took in the previous round (up to twice her level), she may add a +1 pain bonus to her attack and damage roll(s) this round. This is an extraordinary ability, which may be used once per day per two levels.

Focus on the Feeling: As the acolyte becomes more attuned to accepting pain, she can experience the pain in a more focused manner, while taking less physical damage. She gains damage reduction 4/-. At every even level, this is increased by 4 (8/- at 6th level, 12/- at 8th level). As she still feels the full effects, all other abilities based on damage received continue to function on the full amount of the damage before this damage reduction - though at least one point of damage must pass the damage reduction. This is a supernatural ability, which is always in effect (the acolyte cannot turn it off at will).

Sensory Overload: The acolyte takes time to dwell upon her pain, basking in the sensory overload. For one full round she takes no action, simply rendering herself helpless and open to all damage (willingly giving up her dexterity bonus to AC, lowering any spell resistance, and not taking any available saving throws). On the following round, she receives all the benefits of a True Resurrection spell, even if she were not killed in the previous round. This is a supernatural ability, which can be used once per day.

Excruciating Delight: The Master of Pain has learned how to share the delight of pain with others. She now exudes an aura of pain, 10’ radius. Any time the master is damaged for 5 or more hit-points in a single attack, all within 10 feet must immediately make a fortitude save (DC = 10 plus the amount of damage plus her level) or be stunned for one round for each 5 points of damage she took (5-9HP = 1 round, 10-14HP = 2 rounds, 15-19HP = 3 rounds, 20-24HP = 4 rounds, etc.). No actual damage is caused from this aura, and other acolytes of pain are immune to the stunning effects (though they still feel the pain). This is a supernatural ability, which is always in effect (the master cannot turn it off at will).

~ NOTE: If a stunned creature or person is attacked, they are neither helpless nor flat-footed, and may defend themselves as normal; however they cannot take any actions or move more than 5’ a round during this time. ~

~ 2nd Note: to become an initiate of the Acolytes of pain, the new member must spend one full day within 10 feet of the master at all times, sharing in all her pain (and Masters of the Acolytes of Pain usually experience quite a bit of pain) through this ability. ~
