Action points in traditional D&D

Clumsy Bob

First Post
After reading a current Dragon magazine article concerning Ebberon and how it will using action points.
I started thinking about using action points (from D20 modern) and using them in my next FR campaign. Has anyone used them in a fantasy game yet? How did they work out?

Cheers

What are action points?

Action points are from d20 modern, basically you earn approx 5 per level. An action point can be spent to add 1d6 to a skill, save, attack roll etc.
AFAIK in the new Ebberon setting action points will be used, and as well as the above spellcasters can use them to recall cast spells and maybe more.
I am more interested in using them to modify dice rolls and was hoping someone may have already playtested them.
