AD&D 3rd Edition Questionnaire

BOZ

Creature Cataloguer
ok - last one. i could go on and on for some time with these old files i was looking through on my computer, but i'll stop here for now. ;)

this one is a good little piece of nostalgia. this questionaire was probably the basis on which D&D was transformed into what would be known as 3rd edition. neat, eh? :)

i've had it since 1997, but the questions date back to 1996. i can definitely see how answering certain questions in certain ways got the designers to think of changed that eventually took place in 3E...

Reading this, it seems like they already had some ideas in mind when they brought this out. When I read it, I think some of the qurstions are loaded with an answer that sounds "right".

26. What would be the best way to split the rules
for the AD&D game?
þ A very brief Player's Handbook covering only
character creation and spells, with all the
rules in the DMG.
þ A very lengthy PHB covering all the rules and
a shorter DMG with hardly any rules,
concentrating instead on issues that directly
relate to the DM's job.
þ All the player's and DM's information in one
massive volume.
þ The arrangement we currently have.

The question seems to put the answer "A very lengthy PHB covering all the rules and a shorter DMG with hardly any rules, concentrating instead on issues that directly relate to the DM's job" as the most positive result.

Same with question 31, the final answer seems to be worded to be the "right" answer.

9. Where do you play?
þ at a friend's home
þ at my home
þ at school or a public library
þ at a hobby store
þ in the basement of a satanic church

They even acknowledge those that perform evil rituals while gaming! ;)

they told me to stop sending my answers to them.

i flooded the snail mail with mine. but i guess they didn't like my answers.

OD&D(1974) is the only true game.....
