Adamantine longsword ... how many hit points does it have? Where can I find this info ... and does the natural enhancement add +2 to its hardness and HP?

Adamantine has a hardness of 20 and 40 hit points per inch of thickiness. Iron has a hardness of 10 and 30 hit points per inch of thickness, but I believe standard weapons are made from steel, not iron (though I believe their hardness and hit point ratings are identical, so it doesn't really matter). A standard longsword has a hardness of 10 and 5 hit points. So, an adamantine longsword should have a hardness of 20 and 6 hit points.

EDIT: Accidentally switched the hardness and hit points adamantine per inch of thickness. Doh!

However, I should mention that I thought I had read somewhere that adamantine weapons just have double the hardness and hit points of iron or steel weapons, but this might just be a misnomer.

PH, page 136, Table: 8-12 and Table: 8-13. Also, DMG, page 242, or MaoF, page 177.

Honestly, I'm not 100% sure, but I don't believe it does.

Actually, Adamantite has a hardness of 20 and 40 hit points per inch, not the other way around. I personally would give the sword 7 hit points, even though it breaks the "always round down rule".

I would also allow the +2 to add to hardness and hit points, since the DMG does not say that only magical enhancement bonuses apply.

Received this from the Sage, for anyone who's interested. (Yeah! He's not dead! :D)...

<< Does the natural enhancement bonus of an adamantine weapon increase its hardness and hit points as magical enhancements do? >>

It probably ought to (no defeating DR though).
