Adobe Acrobat 6 and Layers

Is there a way in Adobe Acrobat 6 to make a series of tables, each with several different layers, without going through a graphics program? Anyone have any idea if it'd be possible even with a graphics program?

Specifically, if you had a monster book, and wanted to include, say, 3 versions of each monster -- a low level, mid level, and high level. Would it be possible to set it up to layer the versions, so with the click of a button you have a high level monster book, or a low level monster book, or a mid-level monster book?

Can anyone think of a better way to achieve that effect?

Thanks,
Nell.

You should be able to through scripting, don't exactly how. I have looked into this in the past, but it would be easier (for both the creator and the end user) to have three seperate pdfs insted of one pdf with scripting (i'm not sure if it works ok in reasers then Adobe Acrobat).

I can tell you that it is definitely possible with a graphics program ala Photoshop, PageMaker, etc. but I wasn't aware that Acrobat even supported layers, per se.

Mmm, I'm not sure that this is true about photoshop. You can certainly use layers, but I don't think in the way that Nellisir wants. For images, all layers are flattened, unless you save them as psd's, which, of course, will mean anticipating that everyone will have Photoshop to use the layers (and understand how to use them).

I very much doubt that they can be exported to Acrobat either - though I've never tried, so could be wrong - as I'd have thought that they'd get flattend as part of the process.

I've never tried to put together this kind of pdf, though I would certainly start where Cergorach suggests and look into scripting, which seems the most likely option.

AA 6 apparently does to a limited degree. The Mad Irishman has a pdf Unearthed Arcana (yes, UA, not AU) character sheet wherein different character options can be made visible or invisible.

I'm just not sure I can do what I want to do without alot more knowledge than I have.

Cheers
Nell.
