Adoption Issues

I don't know how much to say, and I don't want to give a lot of personal information on the internet, so if this sounds disjointed, that's why.

My birth parents sent me a letter through my adoption agency. Basically, it is a desire for contact and to see if we could (eventually) meet. I am of legal age and have never seriously thought about my birthparents since junior high school. I have a terrific, supportive family. This knocked me out.

I would like some . . . advice isn't the right word. I want to hear about what other people in this situation have done. Feel free to email me through the site instead of posting here. I don't know how much I'll respond to this thread. I don't know what to think or feel, much less do, and while I don't want or expect anyone to tell me what to do, I would like some outside perspective(s).

Where can I email you? I went through a similar experience a few years ago, and I might have some useful....information? It's definitely a life changing experience, I'll tell you that.

I would suspect it's some sort of closure thing for them. Not sure how you feel but it sounds like your on the fence about it. It doesn't change how you should feel about the people that are your real family. That being the people your with now. If your the least bit curious about what and where you came from do it in a controlled enviroment. Somewhere you can walk away from if it's not for you or what you thought it would be. Don't bring them to your home on the first meet. Would not be good to have them sitting in your house and be uncomfortable with trying to find a way to get them to go. That being said, if your asking here, your already heavily considering a meeting with them of some sorts. Your just looking for a way to handle it and if others have any advice regarding how to treat them.

Just my opinion though. Hope it helps.......
