Advanced Classes

Would a Ftr5/Ran5/Adv.Ftr5/Adv.Ran5 have this:

+20 base attack bonus
10d10+10d8 Hit Dice
11 fighter bonus feats
All ranger special abilities (including spells)
Saves: +14 Fort, +10 Ref, +6 Will
92 skill point base

As compared to a Ftr20, who's only advantage is 10 more hp?

Cheiromancer,

It seems interesting, but I am afraid I must think it over as well. At first glance it doesn't seem intuitive.

I'm probably wording it funny. If anyone knows how it can be made clearer...

And I thought the problem was primarily with spellcasters. Non-spellcasting classes already stack reasonably well, now they get advantages too?

Yes. Though if it turns out to be a problem, DMs could probably rule otherwise.

And what do you mean with getting special abilities? Feats, sneak attack, divine grace, bard songs, damage reduction, everything of those?

Yes.

They have the special abilities of a 15th level Ranger and a 15th level fighter. So they don't get the 16th, 18th or 20th level Fighter feats, or the full spellcasting and favored enemy stuff of a Ranger. But they do get the bonus feats for being a Ranger.

Advanced classes are intended to be an alternative to prestige classes, so you might want to think what a prestige class would offer that required you to be a Ftr5/Ran5 to enter.

[edit] I actually don't think it is possible, using these rules, to have a Ftr5/Ran5/AdvFtr5/AdvRan5. There is no legal 19th level build for this character. What you need is a Ftr 6/Ran6/AdvFtr4/AdvRan4, with 14th level special abilities in both classes.[/edit]
