Advanced Grimlocks for 5e?

Hey I am planning an adventure centered around Grimlocks for an upcoming session of my 5e game. The characters are going to be fresh 3rd levels. The thing is there are no stats for Grimlock Chieftains or Shamen or any advancements of the standard Grimlock. So I was wondering if anyone had homebrewed any or had any suggestions of abilities and what not to give them.

Thanks in advance.

I don't have any homebrewed 5E creatures at all, since we mainly do conversions into 3E on this sub-forum.

You'd probably have better luck on our sister Monster Homebrews sub-forum or the main D&D 5th Edition forum.

That said, if you want a grimlock Chieftain or Shaman it shouldn't be that difficult. They're basically generic humanoids apart from their altered sensory abilities and stone camouflage abilities. You could take another Medium sized humanoid of the desired Level and reskin it - just take an Orc Chieftain, say, remove any inappropriate abilities it might have (such as ranged attacks), add a grimlock's special abilities plus a better weapon than the standard spiked bone club (classic AD&D grimlock leaders go for a battleaxe or greatsword) and maybe borrow a special ability or two from another humanoid monster that seem appropriate.

A Shaman's even easier - you could probably get away with just adding low-level spellcasting to a standard Grimlock.
