Advancing creatures HD & Feat pre-reqs

I am advancing the HD of some creatures, and one of the things I was wondering... If I boost the HD enough that the creature's Dexterity drops(by becoming Large), and that creature has a feat like Dodge(which requires Dex 13)- does it lose the ability to have that feat?

Should I choose a new one, or do they get to keep the feat?

I am writing a scenario with creatures at various levels(APLs in Living Greyhawk), and I need to know this. Writing different feats for the same creature might become a little confusing for the DM.

Perhaps changing the Dex-based feats for the lower HD monster completely? Give it something along the Power Attack chain maybe? :]

Unless the feat is identified with a super script B, meaning it is a bonus feat as part of the race, I think it will only make since to change the feat up. If the creature is advanced high enough to warent a size bost then you need to take advantage of the larger size. Give it the strength bast feats vers the dex based feats.

Yes, if it loses the prereqs it should have different feats.

If you see the creature as a naturally 'bigger' version of the base, rather than one that grew into its larger size, you should definitely switch said feats out. However, if it grew into its larger size you might consider using its need for higher dex as a plot element- maybe it has to force a captive wizard into brewing up many potions of cat's grace so it has the ability to spring attack or something.

Thanks for the advice.

I went with Power attack and more Strength-based feats, since the creature's Strength went up to 30 at CR 16. :]

Definitely makes more sense having the creature be able to burn some of its +29 attack bonus for damage. Hehe

If you want to keep with the Dex based feats, you can give the creature the "Elite Array" for it's base stats (+1 CR), put the highest one in Dex, and then use the stat bump's at every 4 HD to increase it's Dex. In many cases this will keep it's Dex high enough to qualify for the standard Dex based feats. It may not work in all cases though.
