Adventure/Campaign Commission

Gotta type this quick (hear the wife's shower ending!) but does anyone know of something else like Wolfgang Bauer's Open Gaming thing where folks can commission experienced writers to create an adventure or campaign with the patron's input? Just seems like a neat idea waiting to be exploited.

The answer is yes. It was called a ransom. However I can't recall anything more than that. I only know of it because of Wolfgang's patron project and somebody mentioned the ransomed game as a comparison.

Ransom games don't have anything to do with the patron having input. That's pretty much Wolfgang's patronage model.

Ransom games typically have games that either will only be released when the designer gets a certain amount of money paid for it (and usually is free after that). Typically it's already designed and ready for release once that total is reached.

So far the only person I know who is doing it beside Wolfgang is Nic Logue, and he is doing it through Wolfgang's own Open Design projects (in fact, it's counted as Wolfgang's latest project numerically).

You are correct. I should read and comprehend more carefully next time. ;)

Greg Stolze does the Ransom model for supplements to Reign, an awesome RPG.

Wolfgang has mentioned that he'd be willing to do a private commission, but the price for it was somewhere in the neighborhood of $3k? Something like that.
