Adventure Games journal

I was looking to write a review of Journal issue 1, but then I realized that James' free previews tell you the quality and use of what he is publishing far better than any words I can write.

So I strongly encourage you to look at and read the previews linked below and see if you think it is material of a quality your willing to buy. All I can tell you is yes, it is jam packed with such material all throughout. If you like these I think its a safe bet you'll love the full versions.

Yes, its meant for Castles and Crusades, but that just means its mostly fluff that anyone can use for any fantasy RPG. Plus bare bones level, HP, armor, and class suggestions for anyone to build with skills and feats. So if you look at it that way its 100% useful content for anyone using any RPG.

Anyways, check it out. If you like it, you know what to do. If you don't like it, you know what to do.

I only skimmed it, but the layout is very attractive, and I like the city map. Really good stuff. I opened the Journal #1 link and found the same quality. It looks great, but I was hoping to read the editorial that's mentioned on page 4 to find out exactly what this is going to be, but it's not there.

Is this going to be a C&C periodical with gaming material or something else?

Its gamer material presented using C&C as the default rules. As you can see in the Previews its mostly fluff since the C&C rules are as "bulky" as 1E is. Meaning pretty sparse in comparison to the current editions of D&D. Even so the reader can use the C&C rules as guidelines for fleshing out PC's/NPC's in 3E or 4E.

So even though its written for C&C you can look at the game info as recommendations of level, stats, HP's, etc... Except you'll likely want to increase the HP's, especially for 4E.
