When Jagos can move again, he stretches out and makes sure there are no lasting effects, takes a few heavy breaths and says, "That was... I don't know what they did, but I just couldn't move at all. At least it passed on it's own."

Assuming Jaret heals him, Jagos smiles in relief and says, "Oh, thanks, I hope I won't need it again though."

"Someone must have heard us, maybe we should try going without lights for a while? Those who can see in the dark could lead the others. There seemed to be some light ahead and maybe it'll give us at least a chance to be a little less noticeable."

"Well, the glow seems to have stopped," notes Marl. "So I don't think any of that rock-fire or fire-rock is there. Travelling in the dark sounds a bit risky, so will someone take this? Just hit it against the ground or a wall, and we'll have light again in a flash."

He digs around in his backpack and pulls a sunrod.

"Grog, are you well enough to keep going?"

After healing Jagos and Grog, Jaret rifles through his healer's kit looking for something to help Grog fight off the effects of the disease. After a few moments, he pulls out some herbs, crushes them, and mixes them with water. Jaret offers it to Grog, saying Here drink this. It tastes bitter but it should help you feel better.

OOC: Healing Jagos is fine. Heal check for helping Grog 9 (7 skill+2 kit).

Jaret - [sblock]With your tools on hand you do what you can to ease Grog's pain, but you also become quite certain that you will need something more in order to help him. His muscles are turning white around the wound, and his skin a mottled purple. From what you can surmise from the speed the disease is spreading, he may not last through the night before he becomes incapacitated. You could perhaps do better if you had sterile facilities to work with, better lighting, and some magical help.

However, you do know full well that there is one alternative that could stop the disease if done soon, a tourniquete and amputation of the wounded arm. Whether that would be better or worse for Grog's health is a question entirely unknown.[/sblock]

Everyone - [sblock]Kreepto seems to be shivering, but he's ready to go forward when everyone else is. "Kreepto was this far in when Kreepto left. Kreepto knows the miners can't have gotten much further in even without Kreepto."[/sblock]

"Ok then..." Marl looks around the group. "Kunst, Grog, and Kreepto, I assume you three can see in the dark... why doesn't one of you go first, and the others help the rest of us who need light to see? And the person in front could take this," he says, holding the sunrod up.

Just a minute Marl Jaret calls out. Grog isn't doing so well.

Jaret speaks to Grog in hushed tones. Grog, I need you to focus. There's nothing I can do to help you get better. You can take your chances and hope that this disease doesn't kill you. Otherwise, I could amputate your arm to stop the spread of the disease. Even if I amputate, there's no guarantee that you won't get worse. What do you want to do? Jaret is nervous about giving this kind of bad news to the formidable fighter, but remains determined to help as best as he can.

As the group proceeds down the passageway, you reach an area that has moderate (dim) lighting. There is a red glow about the stone, but not the glow of warmth. Some light source much farther ahead is reflected all the way down the small glistening red stone, and moisture seems to be stuck to the wall.

There are seven corpses along the walls. Careful observation shows that they appear to have been thrown into the walls, perhaps breaking their bones. They have bruises, limbs twisted in strange ways, and their tissue appears to have been burned.

Kreepto reacts to the sight with some degree of horror but mostly excitement, "Kreepto recognizes these men! These men worked with kreepto! These men were miners!"

Jaret: You are able to determine that the cause of death on most of these bodies was not the force that threw them into the wall and cracked their limbs into disarray, but the actual fire which boiled through their eyes and flesh almost instantly is what killed them. Some of their more mortal wounds (such as the broken bones) appear to have been rather enduring, perhaps the men were living with them for more than a few days.

Vanadan: The dust in the air appears to be gone here, and you can identify that these bodies were, prior to their demise, undead.

Marl & Grog: You can see what looks like a small white cloth hanging over human-sized person at the very edge of your vision.
