D&D 5E Adventure League Games.... Characters?

I'm headed off to Orccon (Strategicon) this month and I'm scheduled to participate in a couple of Adventure League games. Thing is that I've NEVER participated in these before and I'm not sure if I should make my own characters using the AL rules or if a character will provided.

What's the usual Standard Operating Procedure for AL?

The AL players document, available off of Wizards web site, answers all your questions. In short you can either create a character to run, per the provided rules, or accept a pre-gen, your choice.
