Adventure: Lord Byron's Lost Silver (DM: Tenchuu, Judge: H.M.Gimlord)

[sblock=Rulez]It's a minor action to drink a potion, but a standard to administer it to an unconscious creature. (Top of table on PH p289)

Another thing to remember about Coupe de Grace... in addition to combat advantage, the unconscious/helpless creature gets a -5 to all defenses. So preparatory shot might actually have hit (and done sneak attack damage) if Charina was attacking the unconscious one.

Hergunna-spider hisses with glee as the wraithborn creature goes down. She springs free of the chains, moving nimbly out of sword-range of the zombie that has been harrassing her, and charges at the one the Kruk has just downed (again). Her mandibles nip almost clean through its neck... almost... but not quite. "Wil! Finish it!" she cries out.

Standard: Charge to H14. (Damage breakdown: attack normally does 1d8+5, +1d10 for combat advantage with claw gloves, this is maxed to 23 on a crit. Death fang totem grants +2d6 on a crit with combat advantage. Not quite rogue-level but pretty good. :))
Savage Rend (CDG) vs. I14 Zombie (1d20+8+2=12, 2d6+23=29) Yeah that's right, rolled a 2 to hit, but still hits Reflex thanks to the -5 for being helpless.

By my count Kruk reduced it to -3, so 29 more puts it at -32, one short of total death, damn! Wil should still be able to finish it. As long as he hits![/sblock]
 

[sblock=Coup de grace - retcon?]I knew you had to be adjacent to make a coup de grace but now I didn't know you can do it with a ranged weapon!

Had I realized that, I would have walked next to the helpless zombie and CDG him with my crossbow. And that 17 would have been enough because of the helpless -5 defense penalty.

Min damage is 35 or 37 depending on the at0will and would have slain the damn zombie.

Can we retcon? Otherwise, That's what I do next round.

Wil takes heed of Hergunna's call and shifts quickly around the corner, stepping twice with his magical boots. He fires a quick bow shot at the prone creature, severing its spine at last.

[sblock=ooc]Just a quick note, the -5 to all defenses (and combat advantage) is because they are helpless. It doesn't matter if you're making a CdG attack or not. It's just that you don't get the auto-crit unless they are adjacent.

Not sure how to play the retcon if Charina took out the downed zombie before Hergunna and Wil's turns... probably Hergunna would have fed Kane a potion (minor to go to human form, shifting 1 square NE as part of the action, minor to get potion, standard to give it to Kane). And Wil's attack could go against the remaining zombie?[/sblock]
 

As Kruk (or Hergunna) our the contents down his throat, Kane nearly coughs up the valuable contents.

The bugbear shakily gets to his feet, but his blow is lethargic as he adjust to the spots still affecting his vision.

Summary of Events
1. Bested Pirates en route to Allaria. Traveled on the ship Wind's Will captained by Captain Levenbrech, and mated by Porse and Trig.
2. Arrived in the port, to find it besieged by Lizards from the unending mire. Defeated lizards and met/teamed up with Charina.
3. Journeyed to Geardagas and asked the locals for information with mixed results (link to the leads gathered).
4. Went to the temple of Netari, where the new priest, Father Niris, has been tending to the ill (apparently quite poorly). He led the players into the catacombs, where his zombie minions ambushed. The priest, over confident, rambled on about Hellview (background reference for players).
5. Dealing a mortal blow to the Priest, he says Master De Luccia (First time they have heard the name) cannot be stopped, and he stated that Greggor "will be... among the first... at Hellview." The priest laid dying on the floor with his fallen minions.

YAHOO! With a shout, Wil begins to celebrate their victory. He strums his bow and begins to sing, but trips over a prone and rotting corpse. UGH! The bard squelches right into the gross leftovers of the conflict before slowly getting up with little enthusiasm remaining. His face has a green cast Uh, perhaps we should return above and rest for a while.

[sblock=OOC] Woot, if the DM is fine we will take that extended rest. Are the judges overwhelmed at the moment? Aww, just realized that Wil is 150xp short of level 6, which would be a feat/utilty/+1d6 from healing.[/sblock]

John, if you don't have any DM credits left you can petition the judge to award you some early, although you may want to wait a couple days and see how this proposal shakes out as it would affect the DM credits. Kane's about 200 xp short of a level, but I think I may keep him at level 6. Note to all: you don't need to submit your PC for review until the end of the adventure (unless Tenchuu wants you to) thanks to Mal's recent proposal
