(Adventure) M1: Goblin Ears and the MTG (dpdx judging) COMPLETED

vacation

I wanted to say that I'm leaving for a rustic vacation later this week for 10 days or so. Hope you'll all stick around, we're approaching the climax!

As the party gasps, the small figure screams "Help!" The two figures ahead of her turn and cures.

"turns and cures"?

Charlarn will cast light on his shield. He calls out, "Irene, is that you?"

Upon hearing the cry for help, Nurlan starts running toward the scene. If he hasn't yet lit his torch, he won't delay in order to do that, as long as he can see where he's going.

[OOC: I'm assuming "cures" is supposed to be "curse"] Upon hearing the expletives from the apparent would-be kidnappers, he begins to sing. Recalling the effect that The Heroes of Tagraj had on morale yesterday, he starts the fourth verse, which is where he had left off at the end of the fight against the goblins. (inspire courage, standard action to begin, free action to continue)

OOC: Enjoy the vacation. What a cliffhanger? For the next ten days I'll be thinking, every time I log into ENworld, "Is it Irene or isn't it? I'm sure that Goblin Ears II thread has the answers. Must not peak. Must not peak. Must not peak..."

I'll assume all three rush towards the small figure, who starts to run towards them, but staggers and drops to her knees. Swords drawn, the two larger figures start to follow, but pause as the party charges. They stand about 10 feet behind Irene, the party closes to within 20 feet from the other direction. From the light of the torch (or light spell), the small figure can be seen to be Irene, looking wan and bloodied. The two men are the small rat faced man, and the half orc.

OOC: Could you clarify the order of previous posts? I'm trying to figure out if Nurlan is holding a lit torch (he lit it before Charlarn cast his spell and before hearing the cry for help) an unlit torch (if he got the torch out before Charlarn cast his spell but didn't get it lit) or no torch at all (if Charlarn cast the spell before he even pulled it out). My conditionals are going to get much too complicated if I have to post his next action without knowing which of the three.

Charlarn of Phyrah: Male human cleric 1

Since Nurlan lit his torch, Charlarn will ready his shield (move action in place of standard action) (so AC 16 +1 from Dodge feat applied against half-orc). His move action was a move toward Irene, from Manzanita's previous post. He hasn't readied his morningstar yet. I forgot he cast all his spells except sanctuary in the morning fight against the thugs.

"Back off and leave her alone!" Tenebrynn shouts, casting a magic missile at the closest thug to Irene. He then gets his quarterstaff ready.

[ooc: assuming we have slept after the goblin encounter spells will be:
0th - Detect Magic, Light, Mage Hand, Message
1st - Mage Armor, Magic Missle, True Strike]

ouch

"Ouch!" The half orc winces after being hit by the magic missile. He turns and runs. The rat-faced man, hesitates, then turns to run as well.

Nurlan continues to move up to where Irene is, still inspiring courage. He planned to draw his mace (while keeping his torch in his off hand), but upon seeing the thugs run away, he stops singing and says,

"Irene? I'm so glad we found you! Are you OK? You look like you've had an even worse day than we did. Let's get you out of this place as fast as possible, and when we're safe at the warehouse you can tell us what happened."
