[Adventure] Marna is Missing (DM: pacdidj, Judge: renau1g)

Ferris fills the awkward silence...
We made it look like a regular break in... I believe we took anything of value an replaced the seals and forms we used... ye should have no cause to worry that it'll be brought back to ye...

Don't you think it is time you've gone legit? Alnar says to the tiefling. You are bound for trouble in the future. Why don't you transport a safer cargo, like food...

I might have a job for you actually once our work on the island is done. You are taking us both ways aren't you?

[sblock=ooc]Diplomacy, 10! Natural one! :(

Unless we solve the tribes food problems, we could have the Tiefling trade food for their magic items.

"And we took all of their 'evidence' phials for you and everyone else. So they won't have that to point your way either. Although none of the customs agents would remember having signed off on the paperwork to let your ship leave, they'd have no evidence against you of any crime. So they should only be breathing down your neck again if you commit further crimes or import more 'oregeno'." Bann-ur says to the tiefling while stretching his arms out some after finally being able to put Verloc down.

"So, let me get this straight. This fellow was knocked unconscious trying to open the Customs safe, but your group still managed to extract the official seal, and dispose of the condemning evidence against me?" the tiefling guffaws and finishes his brandy in one long swig.

His face breaks into a broad smile, "This is excellent news, and far more than I asked for! I don't suppose you wiped out the entry in the Customs ledger showing that my ship was detained did you? No? Well, no matter. They still haven't got a case against me when next I weigh anchor in Daunton. You've done a great service for me this day, and Berekis Halfhand does not forget a good turn."

The tiefling reaches into a small beside his desk and pulls out a pendant that seems to be radiating a faint energy, and a bag that jingles with the telltale clink of coin against coin. "Here, take these as tokens of my appreciation. I've always found the amulet to bring me good luck in a tight spot, and as you six have brought me luck this day, it is only fitting that I should return the favor."

[sblock="Treasure Received!"]Amulet of Protection +1, 50gp. Again, feel free to distribute as you see fit.[/sblock]

"Just out of curiosity, where was the boy... Festus, I think, Farnsworth's nephew, during all of this?"

Seeming to take mild offense at Alnar's suggestion (perhaps it was something in his tone of voice), Berekis says, "My work is what it is friend, and I happen to be good at it. People have needs, and I supply them. Besides, not everything prohibited by law is harmful. The Oans use hazia as a powerful ritual ingredient, as it allows them to peer farther into the Elysian seas, with greater clarity. Can I help it if some on the streets of Daunton choose to abuse the substance as a drug?"

"It is well that you are bound for Kythira, for I may be able to resupply there. Though I will be arriving earlier than usual... starweed harvesting is dangerous business, and it takes time to do it well. But, perhaps my source will have a partial shipment for me..."

"Then again, I'm not above legitimate work from time to time. Perhaps we will have the chance to speak more of this 'job' when you have finished your business on the Living Isle."

The tiefling glances out the porthole window next to his desk, making a rueful face at the wretched weather. "So, you seek to set sail for Kythira immediately?..."

"Just out of curiosity, where was the boy... Festus, I think, Farnsworth's nephew, during all of this?"
Jezebel chuckles as she imagines the situation the young guard must now be in. "He was watching the front door like a good little guard. It seems he became frightened of the shadows and the monsters lurking therein, so he decided to abandon his post and get dead drunk - with a little help from said monsters." She notices a slight hint of alarm from the other tiefling. "Not that kind of 'dead.' He'll be fine in the morning, albeit smelling of alleyway garbage."

"Yes; the sooner, the better. Otherwise, our employer and his entire tribe might get themselves killed. Of course, if your ship can't manage this weather..."

[sblock=treasure!]I'll put in a bid for the necklace. It's a nice item, so I'm sure I'm not the only one interested.

Oh, and pacdidj: the link for my wikia character sheet is L4W:PC:Jezebel (Dekana) - L4W Wiki if you'd like to update the first post or anything.[/sblock]

[sblock=treasure]I'll pass on the magic item, I'm more worried about AC than the other status. I'll take some gold this time though ;)[/sblock]

[sblock=treasure] I suggest the item go to any Defenders... I make no claim on it. I'll take a share of the gold (1/6th I believe).[/sblock]

[sblock="treasure and ooc"]Before we continue, does anyone else want to put in a claim for the amulet? Joox, Bann-ur?

@Dekana - updated your character link in first post.

@Bobode and Atriden - please let me know when you've got your character sheets ported so I can update your links in the OP for this thread.[/sblock]

"Not that kind of 'dead.' He'll be fine in the morning, albeit smelling of alleyway garbage."

"Poor lad. I don't think he's cut out for this line of work. My crewmen have snuck by him a time or two to recover... various things from the Customs authorities. I would have had them do the same tonight, save for our ship being detained, and Graster seeing to it that no one left the boat. I was intending to create a diversion with the two young ladies you saw earlier, so that my trusted man could disembark unnoticed, but you've thankfully proven that unnecessary."

"Yes; the sooner, the better. Otherwise, our employer and his entire tribe might get themselves killed. Of course, if your ship can't manage this weather..."

"Very well we will set our sails toward Kythira. The Swiftcurrent has sailed in much worse than this. I expect no serious difficulties. I must now take my leave to instruct my crew, however. You should see my man Willace below decks, he'll get your party situated with hammocks and space to store your gear."

"Make yourselves comfortable. Ever since the last mists blew through it's been taking anywhere between four days and a week to reach even the closest of the Proximate Isles..." and with that Berekis ushers you out of his private quarters.

[sblock=moving forward]Okay, so it looks like the amulet goes to Jezebel, as no one else has put in a claim for it, with everyone else receiving 10gp each from the bag Berekis gave you.

I will update again either later on today or tomorrow, but wanted to leave some space for RP amongst the party on your voyage, and for Joox/Verloc to come to.

Speaking of which, I know Atriden's taking a break here due to RL constraints, but we haven't heard from Bobode in a bit either. You still there?[/sblock]
