[Adventure] Marna is Missing (DM: pacdidj, Judge: renau1g)

"Yes, take all the evidence. I'll grab Verloc and we can get out of here once you're done with the papers." Bann-ur tells the others as he moves over to pick up Verlock.

As Bann-ur is picking up the snoring body of Verloc, Garry gets the papers from the hulking Goliath, and takes his flint and steel out of his backpack. He quickly moves to the large, intricately-carved desk. Within half a minute he has a built a small fire in the base of a candle stick using some discarded paper scraps. He uses the flame to melt a small pool of sealing wax onto the forged papers, and stamps them with the Customs seal, thereby legitimizing the fraudulent documents. He quickly snuffs the flame, and scoops the small pile of ash out of the candlestick base, then returns the official seal to the lockbox.

Once Bann-ur has hoisted the rogue's body Garry says, "Okay, we're through here. No point in cleaning anything else up now. Let's find the others and get down to the docks."

[sblock="Encounter Aftermath"]Total loot from the Cusotms Offfice:
1 set of forged departure papers,
Coins totaling 11 gp and 40 sp from the lockbox,
25 gp worth of ritual components found in the 'EVIDENCE' phials (10 Arcana, 15 Religion).
The party can distribute the above treasure as they see fit. Additionally, Verloc pocketed 9gp from the official's desk and gave 3gp to Garry.

Before heading down to the docks, Garry, Ferris, and Bann-ur will somehow need to meet up with Alnar and Jezebel at the Hanged Man. They'll also need to figure out some way to ditch the dim-witted guard.[/sblock]

Jezebel attempts the same as Alnar, though she doesn't shy away from drinking her own drink. She watches the young guard out of the corner of her eye; if he doesn't start drinking on his own, she'll "carelessly" knock a drink onto him.

Even if we pull off the heist without leaving a trace, this young idiot will get back to his post smelling of booze. Losing her sense of place for a moment, she smiles devilishly.

Festus greedily accepts the first few drinks offered with a shaky hand, tossing them back quickly to calm his nerves. He continues to sip on the drinks foisted on him by Jezebel and Alnar, and before long his eyes are tracking hesitantly and his continuous stream of babble has become somewhat slurred, "won't be happy no she won't, she won't, if'n I loothhe my job with uncle Farnthhworth. Cauthe uncle he'll thay, 'Fethtuth, what wath you thinkin boy? Detherted your potht you did. Should've called the watch.' But know I'm troo dunk to get out of my thtool. Methhed up bad thith time I have..."

[sblock=Plans?]Festus is good and drunk. He looks nearly ready to pass out. Now all that remains to be seen is what Jezebel and Alnar will do with the drunken lad, and how Ferris and Bann-ur plan to meet up with them.[/sblock]

Ferris leads the group from the Customs office to the Hanging Man tavern, remembering that is where he and Jezebel and Alnar had planned on finishing the "ritual". Asking the others to wait across the street in the shadows from the Tavern entrance, Ferris peeks in to try and locate the other two members of the party.

[sblock=ooc] Ferris is going to divvy up the coins he found, 2gp and 5 sp each, when he gets the opportunity (keeping 1 gold and 15 silver) [/sblock]

We could take him back to his post and try to wake him up. Perhaps we could hope that he would not remember anything and say we found him knocked out and took him to the hangedman to revive him. It's not our fault he had one too many!

That would cover us just in case someone found out that we broke in.

Or maybe he would remember :-S[/sblock]

Ferris strolls up to the tavern window and peers inside. Given that it's only a little over an hour after the close of the business day, and therefore Dauntonian "happy hour", it doesn't come as a surprise (even to the backwoodsy shifter) that the Hanged Man is fairly full. It is hard to get a clear look at who is sitting where, but Ferris does manage to spot the tiefling's horns however, sticking up over the crowd toward the center of the bar. Given the level of crowding at the bar though, Ferris doesn't think it likely that he'll be able to catch Alnar's or Jezebel's without making highly erratic gestures at the window, and possibly attracting unwanted attention from other patrons.

Jezebel, now a little tipsy herself, rubs at her eyes in an effort to dispel a headache.

"Are you still going on about that? You really can't take a joke, huh. What kind of person believes in ghost stories these days?" She makes no effort to explain the noises that came from inside the customs office. "Come on, let's get you home. You can keep fighting oni in the morning."

With Ferris and Alnar's help, she'll try to lead the guard outside. She figures that a dirty alleyway would make an acceptable place to ditch him. That or returning him to the customs office right before the next guard is scheduled to arrive (and find him drunk off his arse).

edit: oops, didn't see your post right before mine.

Festus, having at some point broken into a besotted chorus of,
"Tie me bullywug down, sport!
Tie me bullywug down,"
breaks off his off-key 'singing' at Jezebel's mention of jokes and ghost stories.

"Joke? You mean choke?" asks the drunken lad, having apparently picked up only a few key words from the conversation, "No I thertainly don't wanna be choked by no gothht. Not by no oni neither, thank you merry vutch! Now mithhy, would you be tho kind ath to show me the way to my mother'th houthe? I can't theem to remember the way, and I'm ever tho thleepy..."

With Alnar's help Jezebel manages the drunkenly-careening Festus up from his stool and out the front door of the Hanged Man, where she sees Ferris peering into the barroom window.

[sblock=ooc]So, does the party want to dump poor Festus in an alley or back at his post at the Custom's Office?[/sblock]
