Mini Update

Both Hekthesh and his eyeless thrall wince in pain at the volume of Alnar's roar. Unfortunately the volume is a bit much for Alnar himself, and he bursts an ear drum, causing himself a major distraction as he attempts to readjust to using just one ear for now.

[sblock=ooc]Blast hits both Hekthesh and DS3. Alnar is deafened and dazed till his EONT due to the crit miss.[/sblock]

What's this? I don't look for a day and everyone acts without waiting for the light!? And interferring with my blast 2 :(

Deva accepts the wound as punishment for being slow. He activates sunrod he held ready and pronounces
"As this light banishes shadows, so will you be banished from this world of light."

[sblock=Actions]
Minor: activate sunrod
Standard: Vanguard's lightning at J10 vs Hektesh, DS3, RT4 and RT6 ref (1d20+7=10, 1d20+7=14, 1d20+7=16, 1d20+7=9) - if any of that hits Lightning damage (1d6+6=8) and target that takes OA also takes 3 lightning damage

OOC: I told you I'll get low rolls once we start :)
[/sblock]

Cyr's burst of lightning zaps one of the shadowy tendrils, causing it to dissipate into the surrounding night. The dark ones and the other tendril however, manage to recoil quickly enough that they are unharmed.

-----

The tendrils of darkness swoop down, surrounding your party, two of them lashing out at Alnar, leaving ugly, festering wounds. One of them wraps itself around Jezebel's leg causing the tiefling a minor annoyance, and another exhales its burden of noxious fumes all over Ferris and Cyr, causing the shifter and the deva to go green as their stomachs turn in absolute revulsion.

The eyeless dark ones meanwhile launch a direct assault against the party, drawing their short swords. You are once again surprised to see one of their number simply step over the shadowy chasm as if the darkness within it were a solid object. The thralls lash out at your party, but to no avail. Perhaps their lack of any apparent eyesight hinders their aim.

Hekthesh, watching his underlings' ineffectual display, gives a disgusted chuckle, and says, "It's up to me then, is it?" The malevolent half-pint then bursts into a flurry of motion. He once-again launches his boomerang in a wide arc, and its razor-sharp edge clips Alnar, Cyr, and Ferris as it passes by, leaving them with deep gashes. As the weapon flies, the little man steps sideways, draws a short sword from a sheath on his belt, and charges toward Sir Exsixten. Just as he catches his returning boomerang in his off-hand, Hekthesh lashes out at the mechanical knight, driving his small blade deep into an exposed area of Sir Exsixten's wooden frame.

[sblock="Lighting and Terrain (important!)"]The moon sheds dim light on the battlefield. If you have normal vision, everything in dim light is lightly obscured (-2 to melee/ranged attacks vs. non-adjacent enemies), but this doesn't apply right now, since Cyr lit a sunrod, which effectively lights the entire area.

The shadowy, arm-looking thing is a chasm in the center of the battelfield. A fall into it may be survivable, but it looks like a long way down. The chasm can be jumped using the athletics rules for horizontal jumps on pp. 182-183. The chasm is mostly 1 square wide, except at the western end (columns 5 and 6), where you'd need to jump over 2 squares to clear it. The dark area in the northeast of the map, past column 17 and row K is a sheer drop. It is far less likely that anyone pushed off such a precipice would survive.

The fallen pillars (C3-B4 and L8) and the stump (H13) are effectively low walls granting cover and partial concealment, but also blocking line of sight. The thick foliage of the ironwood trees placed around the map grant superior cover and total concealment vs. non-adjacent creatures, and they block line of sight.[/sblock]

Jezebel glances to her side when the warforged announces his vaulting. Is he crazy?! They'll knock him over! And she was just starting to have fun with the automaton.

In any case, the enemies on the far side of the cliff seem to be handled for now. Jezebel cracks the fiend in front of her with her whip and then breaks away from combat, hardly even feeling any retaliatory strikes while her senses are dulled by her gods. The tiefling rejoins the spellcasting trio, whipping the flying beasts as she goes and yells,

"Good, you're all together! Now I can kill you at the same time!"

If anyone can actually do that, it would be the spellcasters in the party, but Jezebel's boast/threat nonetheless incurs a supernatural feeling of malcontent among the hoard of enemies now surrounding her.

[sblock=Stat block/Actions][sblock=Actions](Alnar managed to post before I did. Jezebel goes first so she gets the benefit from his temp hp after she incurs some OAs on her own turn)

Minor: Divine Challenge DS1.

Standard: Enfeebling Strike vs DS1 hits AC 21 for 5 damage. (I'll assume it hits). DS1 is whipped vs Jezebel.

Move: walk to M9. This will provoke from DS1 and RT2.

(Free): Infernal Wrath against either attacker if they hit Jezebel. RT2 takes priority as a target. If DS1 hits and RT2 doesn't, it takes 7 damage.

AP-Standard: Valorous Smite vs RT8 hits AC 27.

RT8 needs to immediately save or die, as does RT2 if it hits Jezebel with the OA.

Mark summary
RT1, RT3 (haha), RT7, RT8, DS3 are sanctioned until the end of Jezebel's next turn. -2 to attack only allies and 7 damage if they try to. (Note: If Incorporeal Form is an immediate action and not a free action, the RTs can't use it to protect themselves from the sanction damage on their own turn.)
DS1 is DC'd, enfeebled, and whipped. It takes -5 to attack only allies, -5 to attack only Jezebel, or -3 to allies and -5 to Jezebel (for an area attack).

Ooh, that's a L4W record for most targets simultaneously marked (6, or 5 if RT8 fails its save). I'll have to update the records page.[/sblock]PC:Jezebel (Dekana) - L4W Wiki - Female Tiefling Paladin 2

Mini Update

Jezebel's strike causes the eyeless thrall to double over in pain. As she moves away, it strikes back at her to no avail, but moving through the tendril's grasp leaves a festering laceration on her ankle. The pain triggers the fire in her veins though, and the tendril is seared into nothingness by the infernal blood of her race. She then lashes out at another of the tendrils that was harassing Alnar, and it begins to dissipate, only to reform seconds later.

The sorcerer then calls out to his compatriots, and everyone seems strangely invigorated by Alnar's slightly incoherent exhortations, as he struggles to clear his head and regain his hearing.

[sblock=Enemy Actions and Status Effects]:bmelee:DS1 OA vs. Jezebel = miss (roll)

:bmelee:RT2 OA vs. Jezebel = hit (roll) for 5 damage

RT2's incorporeal form = fail (roll)

RT8's incorporeal form = success (roll)

Alnar is no longer dazed and deafened. Hekthesh no longer takes any hit penalties, and DS3 is no longer subject to Alnar's hit penalties.

[sblock=DM]Slight correction: Jezebel has no damage. She had 9 temp hp prior to the start of the round, took 5 damage to drop to 4 temp hp, and then got alnar's 12. So:

Jezebel: 37/37, 12 THP[/sblock]
