Adventure Paths (AoW & ST AP) Hardcovers

Seems like WotC could get some great adventure support right out of the gate with those adventures (in addition to jump starting people such as myself).

Ahh, but then, you wouldn't be buying their new adventures. :)

It's unfortunate, since I think "Age of Worms" and "Savage Tide" are hands-down some of the best adventures published for 3.5, and I'd gladly shell out for hardcover versions of both of these.

And Pathfinder is also shaping up to be quite cool, of course. ;)

If WotC doesn't care about Paizo supporting 4E?

Speaking as someone who is neutral about 4E right now, I think they'd be shooting themselves in the foot.

Whether or not publishers like Paizo, Green ROnin, Necromancer, etc., support 4E will be a factor in whether my group and I decide to upgrade down the line.

Now this is just going from my anecdotal experience, but I would say you're in the minority (of the minority). There are a lot of people who buy D&D products who don't even play D&D. And among those of us who do play d20, most of us only play WotC stuff. I don't think it would really bother WotC in the grand scheme of things whether Paizo does well or not.

maybe he's in the minority in the D&D population as a whole, but I wouldn't bet that he's in the minority on this board.

And that's takasi's point (I agree with him, first time ever ;) ). EN Worlders, as a whole, are likely far more knowledgable about the breadth of RPG stuff beyond WotC publications, and probably far more likely to be buying non-WotC stuff.

I'd rather follow Paizo into the future rather than WotC - I like their work better, frankly.

But I'm going to stick with WotC if its really putting out this 4e SRD. Paizo isn't jumping out there to involve a community or encourage third parties to support their settings / games.

While I'm loving pathfinder, I'd find it a whole lot cooler if Paizo was encouraging everybody and their dog to do work on it, rather than Paizo being the only source. I'd like to be able to purchase a twenty page take on a single human culture of the Pathfinder world, or an expansion on the ecology articles, but that product is too niche for Paizo to be willing to work on and sadly the source content is closed so no such product will ever exist.

There's just a bigger creative ecology around WotC than Paizo, and Paizo's not going to one-up that ecology without being more encouraging of outside involvement.

I think it'd be cool to see those two APs converted and released as 4e material. WotC and Paizo both win.

Age of Worms needs big rewrites for three adventures, unfortunately: Encounter at Blackwall Keep, The Sinister Spire, and Dawn of a New Age.

I keep hearing horror stories of how groups abandoned AoW after Sinister Spire.

Cheers!

Speaking as a 4E fanboy, I agree. The Paizo/Dragon adventure paths were great for our group, and I want more of it for 4E.
I think WotC's guys are pretty good at mechanics, but Paizo's guys are pretty good at stories.

Spire of Long Shadows.

I disagree that they need big rewrites. Maybe some minor tweaking, but my group went through them pretty much as written and had a blast doing so (except for Dawn of a New Age. We haven't reached that one yet, but I don't see any major changes in store for it).
