[Adventure] The Cannith Caper (Judge: THB)

"I can ask around about guides and the surrounding terrain, it's been a while but I passed through this city once so I'll see what I can find. Is everyone else going to the library then or is another group going to see what mounts they can find? May I suggest our fearless leader." Rook grins, finishing his statement. "Seeing as how he obviously understands the relationship between rider and mount..."

Rook crosses his arms and leans agains the front of a nearby building while he waits for his companions to make up their collective mind.

Haltor eyes Rook after his comment. If there is a problem between you and I, young-one, it is best you let it be known now before it festers. For while what you say makes sense, how you say it indicates something different.

Just bumping up the relevant discussion points here. Once Rook replies and Haltor's satisfied we'll move onto the party splitting up :devil: worked out very well in sg's game I'm in.... ;) [/sblock]

Rook grins innocently at Haltor, "I meant no disrespect by my comments Elder, I was simply bringing your close relationship with your mount to attention."

Rook wanders off to find what information and possible guides he can find, beckoning to those who wish to accompany him.

[sblock=Streetwise?]Should I roll streetwise?[/sblock]

Haltor does not quite look satisfied with the other halfling's answer, but shrugs it off. He'll die or he'll live. No reason to waster water on it.

Taking the others, he goes to look for some mounts for the others. He tries them out, even the larger ones, seeming a natural on each.

OOC: His hidden Mark of Handling has to come in useful sometime. ;)

Varak watches with interest as the aged halfling examines the mounts. As Haltor strokes their necks and whispers in their ear, Varak thinks back to his home. Horses were not common in the Wastes. They required too much water, of which their was little. The few in the Wastes he had seen were from adventurers who were killed. The abandoned mounts made fine food for him and his family.

He only was able to appreciate them as a mount on his journey from the Wastes. In the Reaches he met a man who had an affinity for animals, much like Haltor. They traveled together for a time, and from him is where Varak learned to ride.

Before the group splits up, Harressh suggests that they meet back at the station in two hours. "If that's long enough..."

The dragonborn trails off after Rook. "Your comments to Haltor," he growls. "You don't have something against reptiles, do you?"

[sblock=ooc]I already rolled an Aid Another check above, so that's +2 to either Streetwise or Diplomacy (whichever you try).[/sblock]

"Reptiles? Not particularly, they always seem rather cold to me though. You know? Nothing like a good pony or some other mammal. Give me a warm-blooded creature anytime!"

Rook pauses, "Wait... you're not comparing yourself to a reptile are you?"

He stifles back a chuckle, trying to look apologetic.

[sblock=Haltor]ha, didn't even realize you had the mark of handling![/sblock]

[sblock=Streetwise check][8,10] = (18)[/sblock]
