[Adventure] The Cannith Caper (Judge: THB)

Haltor, his eyes focused on the battle at hand, smiled as the foes surrounded him. The Closing Fist! I'd recognize that stale move even if I hadn't seen it more times than your broodmothers have teats! He whooped as magic and brawn began to fell the enemies he had drawn to him. The hunt-mask regards the halfork a moment and nods a the other surrounding him in a 'You take this one' gesture before he spurs his mount and charges heedlessly at the glaive-wielder. He slashes a deep wound with his sharrash then spins it around and thumps the larger foe in the gut, causing it to fall while White-Eye follows up with a wicked claw! Hahahaha![sblock=Actions]Perception fails. Shift to B13 (assuming ls64 is dead) then Flattening Charge g: Hit (Reflex 28), 18 damage, g is knocked prone, and Haltor retains the power. White-Eye follows up with an attack due to mount ability (charge, prone combat advantage): AC 18, 5hp.[/sblock][sblock=Haltor]Haltor—Male Halfling Warlord 4

Seeing the ambush triggered and almost instantly defeated by the charging halfling and half-orc, Vistrathis gives his new companions a small smirk of respect.

Well played Haltor and Varak, well played.

Respected or not, Vistrathis did not want to find out, yet, how Haltor would handle a two on one confrontation, so he ran toward his companions until he could see the whites in the eyes of his enemies. More importantly, it was his own eyes that Vistrathis wanted to become readily visible. Swinging his sword to his right and finishing the words of power that he had already been working on, Vistrathis slices through his closest enemy and then turns his gaze towards a foe who looked ready to circle around the boulder to Haltor's north east. Shouting out at the distant enemy, Vistrathis locks eyes with his foe.

"Push off you pretentious, putrescent, pustular, pile of puke! Peregrinate post-haste or persist and perish!"

uuuugh... I hate it when it makes me alliterate!

Staring down the creature, Vistrathis could feel the mark on the palm of his hand and the blood in his veins begin to burn. The githyanki's black eyes began to glow red, and the two molten orbs pierced their victim's mental protections, if indeed any existed in the first place. The hobgoblin could feel the swordmage's gaze piercing his soul, keeping him in place, almost in a daze. Something in its mind kept repeating "run away...run away...run away".

[sblock=Actions]
- Move: Vistrathis moves to BQ-13

- Standard: Booming Blade vs LS 61; Hits AC 25 for 9 damage, and if LS 61 is adjacent to Vistrathis at the start of its next turn and it moves away during that turn, it takes 1d6+4 thunder damage. If the target attacks Vistrathis before the start of his next turn, it takes another 5 damage.

- Minor: Vistrathis uses Evil Eye of the Vistani against S 64's Will, rolling 19. If this hits (I think this is most likely given our level and type of enemies =P) then S 64 grants combat advantage to Vistrathis and S 64 cannot willingly move closer to Vistrathis until the end of Vistrathis' next turn.

- Immediate Interrupt: If any of Vistrathis' allies are hit before the beginning of Vistrathis's next turn, Vistrathis will use Channeling Shield to reduce the damage of the attack by 9 (If triggered, Vistrathis will also gain a +4 bonus to the next successful attack he makes before the end of his next turn) [/sblock]

Alex stares in stunned silence as his allies viciously and effectively cut down the hobgoblin enemies. *Gulp* although only Harresh hears this nervousness. He is determined to demonstrate his effectiveness to his new allies and strides forward bravely.

He holds his orb out and gestures to a spot east of the hobgoblin with the scimitars. Roiling black shadows spring up from the ground and grab onto the enemy. As they do, the hobgoblin feels his legs feeling sluggish as the insidious magic overwhelms his mind.

Seeing his arcane ally's effective spell unleashed, he looks back and smiles at the wizard.

"Nicely done! Now I'll have to bring out the big guns to one-up you! I can't be having some mage outdoing me!" Vistrathis laughs, giving Alexa a big thums up and a smile.

Varak sees the hobgoblin's though a bit later than expected. He had seen a few goblinoids in Sharn, but the half-orc was more familiar with the orcs tribes in The Wastes. These two should go down quickly.

Haltor's plan seems to work as a multitude of hobgoblin's appear from behind the boulders, even the one that Haltor's in front of!

As one rounds the corner, Alex's mental blast slams into the hobgoblin, dropping the foe.

The rest swarm at Haltor, two of them drawing minor wounds on the halfling warrior, but he manages to deflect one. Another appears from behind a rock and fires an arrow at Alex, getting retribution for his fallen ally.

The scimitar wielders and glaive wielder move into a more advantageous position

The half-orc curses as other oppopents reveal themselves, they were better than what he thought they were. The half-orc moves forward, and then rushes the opponent that flanked the halfling and his mount. The half-orc unleashes hell with his blade, cutting at one of his opponents.

Harressh rushes forward, his body glowing with heat and light. He extends the tip of his staff and makes a circular motion. A cascade of red-hot stones appears in the air above the hobgoblins menacing Haltor, lashing down to batter them. One of the goblinoid avoids the worst of it, but the other's skull is crushed by a boulder-sized stone that strikes it square in the forehead.

The glaive wielding hobgoblin stands up and growls at the halfling, "You'll pay for the little one" it hisses, stabbing its weapon around in a dizzying assault that strikes both rider and mount, sending them sliding towards the scimitar wielding hobgoblin.

"Get over here fool" he yells to the remaining longsword wielder, who obliges, hustling around the cave to move next to his boss.

The scimitar wielder steps onto the red-coloured rock and leaves himself open for attack by Haltor. The hobgoblin then begins slashing with surprisingly disciplined attacks and one slash is particularly deadly, but at the last moment Haltor ducks and the blade passes over his head.

The other hobgoblin moves out of the wizard's spell and takes up a defensive position.

[sblock=Monster Actions]

These are called Blood Rocks, they can conjure feelings of great battlelust in someone standing on them.

ooc - game terms, you crit on 19 or 20 while on them (the green splotches. Good job Wotc, way to have your maps match the description ;)) [/sblock][/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]
On the map s hobbo is scimitar, g hobbo is glaive-wielder. So funny story, I rolled their hide checks and got a 1 and a 2.... Apologies for the map, it's hard because they're pretty far away.

Status:
s64 - grants combat advantage to Vistrathis and S 64 cannot willingly move closer to Vistrathis until the end of Vistrathis' next turn.
g -

[sblock=Terrain Features]

The hobgoblin leaving itself open gets rewarded with a slash to the knee for its trouble. As the blade comes down with a wicked glean, Haltor twists and attempts to duck out of the way.[sblock=OOC]OA: AC 24, 17 damage (forgot +2 from Goblin Totem property).

Halfling powers activate! Second Chance on that crit (reroll my friend :)). And I'm assuming that is a crit on 19-20 then?

Re: Movement & Prone: If I'm forced to move, I can chose mount to be affected if they were not. If mount is forced to move, I think I can choose to be dismounted (but I can't find that in the compendium immediately). If they knock me prone, I can make a saving throw to not be prone (so unconscious in the saddle).[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]Don't forget to finish the rewording, as it still says Haltor's KO'd.

Second Chance is a lovely power for Bravura warlords. :)[/sblock]
