(Adventure) The Island of Varras'zul (Manzanita Judging) (Concluded)

Mona was amenable to Razh's arrangement. She set up her hooded lantern in the center of the room. She did not yet set her tent up, though she did take out a healing kit to use upon the party.

Before the dwarf took to rest, she asked to see his wounds so that she could tend to them. After examining Rasereit's condition and applying ungents and ointments to his wounds, she made her way around the party doing the same, though she saved Scun for last.

When her watch was over, she awoke the dwarf to take up his turn at guardianship

Ogrin regains consciousness after a few hours. He'll offer to take the last watch. As he's been out for a while, he's a bit groggy and just assumes it must be morning since he just woke up. He'll take the opportunity to make breakfast for the rest of his friends, who likely view it as an evening snack.

He'll try to prepare a special dish for Mona out of what's in his pack ("My mother used to make sandwiches like this... although without the quicksand taste.")

OOC: Using his flask of oil to fuel Mona's lamp should give light for the time he's up, as well as a few more hours.

OOC2: I assume the new hit points don't need to be "healed up", which would put Ogrin at 9/18, give or take....

OOG: My Rasereit post in the Character Database is updated. I rolled a d12 for HP, since I wasn't sure whether you wanted to do that or what. Result = 8. Not much changed, just FOR and BAB, plus uncanny dodge.

OOG: actually, HP gain for levels above 1st is 3/4 of max (as I had mentioned above). But since 8 is 3/4 of a d12 roll, i guess that's good, too. :)

The only thing that needs adjusting from your character sheet is your grapple mod which should be +5 (STR + BAB). Everything is good. Rasereit is approved.

And Ogrin is approved as well. I guess that makes everyone. On to the adventure!

OOG2: Actually, I looked over the Heal skill again. It requires 8 hours of light activity. I'm guessing that Mona couldn't take watch during this time. But it doesn't matter because...

The party's rest was uneventful, though costly to their reserves of oil. Since she had to work for the whole time everyone was resting, Mona kept her lantern lit and in the center of the room. She was the only one with the tent so she could easily tend to everyone without needing to move the light source.

GM OOC3: Everyone heals 4 HP from the rest + long term care. Those with ability damage heal 2 points of ability damage instead of 1. Ogrin is completely healed of NL damage.

The cleric's features ragged and bloodied, though the blood was not hers. She was busy for most of those 8 hours, taking a few breaks to rest her hands and eat Ogrin's offered sandwiches.

"Thank you, kinsman. These look very delicious" She said appreciatively but with some exaggeration. The cleric's face winced slightly as she took a first bite. She laughed, politely covering her mouth. Mona made a gesture of apology to show that she wasn't laughing at him or his food preparation.

"Oh my! The quicksand taste is a little stronger than I expected!" Surprisingly, she maintained her smile and finished the sandwiches. "When we are finished with our mission, perhaps you could make those sandwiches for me again... but without the 'special seasoning'!" She teased playfully.

At the end of the 8 hours, Mona retired to her tent for some rest. "Just give me an hour" she said tiredly before she closed the tent flap behind her.

True to her word, an hour or so later she got out and readied herself for another delving expedition.

Scun wakes up refreshed and invigorated. He has a spring in his step and seems to be moving faster than he was the day before, despite his chainmail. With a toothy smile (which most would call a grimace) he speaks. "I feel much better. Let us get back on task and get what we came for."

oog: Scun's sheet updated. Question: how do you plan on adjudicating Scun's luck domain ability in this pbp medium?

Rasereit rises from his slump in the corner of the room. He stretches to get blood flowing to his cramped muscles. He notices bandages and other such evidences of healing on his appendages and realizes that he feels a bit better. With a gruff, dog-like yawn, Razh pushes against the walls of the small cavern. An observer might notice that Rasereit's behaviors look a bit like Scun's, the unsightly half-orc, revealing a bestial, primitive crudeness to his demeanor. Once he finishes waking up, he begins to hum a ditty horribly out of tune as he examines his blades for damage, or perhaps for blood, or perhaps just to admire the objects of his affection. His humming grows louder as the dark encampment begins to stir and move about. He looks up every now and then to see if the party is ready to go yet, then drops his head disappointedly to his now shining weapons. Where his face promptly lights up again as he remembers what he was doing.

OOG: Fixed the grapple thing. But about the HP, 9 is 3/4 of 12, not 8, so is that what I should use? And what about current HP? Are the 11-12 new HP now tacked on?

Ogrin feigns a shocked look. "And I was going to name it my 'Quicksandwich' and open a fast food business in Orussus... Alas, my plans are ruined!". His smirk turns into a genuine smile as he continues, "I'd be happy to, lass... once the task at hand is accomplished."

When Mona has entered her tent, Ogrin rejoins the others. "So, friends, how about a plan here? I guess those smaller vermin depended on their 'mama' for protection and won't be much of a problem. I suggest we leave them alone for now. I'm more worried about the large circle of darkness... It looks circular so whatever's in the center is likely what causes the darkness... but what it protects could be somewhere else in there. Also, I would be surprised me if there's a trap or something inside it. If we enter it, we should check the floor in front of us with a stick or something. I remember the treasure room of baron -" Ogrins eyes dart quickly between his friends, "- nevermind".

He takes a sip of water before continuing, "Or, we could skip it for now, concentrating instead on the door. I'm not much of a door man myself, trying usually to work around them, if you get my drift. I doubt that'll be possible here though. I'd suggest looking around some more to see if we can locate a key or something."

Sniffing at his own 'breakfast', he offers, "Anyone want to trade for a quicksandwich? They really have a quite original taste. Noone?"

Nezrak regains consciousness, and wearily drags himself up to eat something. He listens to his comrades while he eats. "We should probably get going. I'm now seriuously running out of rations. Let's hope that whatever's behind those doors - if there is anything - has already died of hunger and thirst."

OOC: Nezrak is at 3/9 HP. And suddenly, 2 new spells seem to have appeared in his spellbook... :P How many days have we spent in the adventure total? I probably have only 1 or no rations left now.

OOG to Brain: Well, the Luck Domain granted ability has been used before and on this day in-game. Generally, if it's a "you're screwed" kind of saving throw then I activate the Luck Domain on your behalf.

But I'd rather give the PC more choice in this situation. If you have a better idea how to adjudicate this ability, let me know. Or you can just give me a specific set of circumstances where Scun will use the ability.

OOG to Rae ArdGaoth: Use the 9 HP. And the your newly gained HP is tacked on to you current HP.

OOG to Xael: It's been 4 days. So you should still have about 1 ration. It's currently nighttime of the fourth day so after a few hours, it'll be the next day.

Scun listens to Ogrin and the others. "The darkness holds something evil. I don't like the idea of leaving that evil at our backs and going through the door. We should investigate and poke it with a stick like Ogrin said." Scun hefts his spear and grins.
