(Adventure) The Island of Varras'zul (Manzanita Judging) (Concluded)

Spurred by Rillian's presence on the stairs, Razh rushes across the room as fast as he can, avoiding the chasm.

OOC: How many rounds before I lose my rage? 2 after this one... right?

oog: yup. Round 12 is when Razh's rage will expire.

Razh followed the wall, approaching the corner as swiftly as he could. Somewhere on the other side of the wall and around the corner, he could hear the swarm.

The quick steps of the dwarf was lengthening the gap between himself and Rillian even as he strode closer to freedom. Rillian climbed up the stairs with his lantern and his prize in his hands. He managed to pull himself up to the next floor and reached the wall (I14)

Nezrak arrived at the base of the rain-soaked stair that led to the swamp. He began his ascent toward the misty grey light.

Scun stood at the entrance to the ruin, surveying the area and taking notice the the grey elf's ascent.

Ogrin and Mona climbed up the water-logged stairs with some difficulty, lantern light bobbing in their movements. But they were near the top of the stairs now.

Ogrin [sblock]
The swarm was at the base of the water-logged stairs. It tried to follow them, but it was unable to do so. It fumed and chittered madly but held its position, warded away by the water. [/sblock]

Rasereit felt his strength beginning to ebb. It wouldn't be long before the Rage left him, replaced by weariness.

[sblock]When Rasereit rounded the corner (15 ft of movement, T13), he saw the swarm at the base of the stairs.

The dwarf's movement attracted the swarm's attention. Eerily it turned him, ready to snake toward him and finish him off.
oog2: Razh still has a 15 feet of movement and standard action left.[/sblock]
Razh's turn

OOC: The door closest to Razh, has it already been explored? Does it look like it could be easily air-tightened? (By shoving some cloth in the cracks, etc.)

oog: Yes, it has been explored. No, it probably can't be made air-tight so easily. It's difficult to tell, given the scant few seconds Razh has for judgment.

Razh can try it and hope it works...

Beginning to panic, the sturdy dwarf glances forward at the hellish swarm, back at Rillian, and to the right at one of the rooms the party had explored already. "Mongrel save me..." he mutters. He dashes into the room and slams the door behind him, and begins plugging holes and cracks as fast as he possibly can, praying to his god to keep him alive...

Rasereit, moving as fast as he could, ducked into the nearest room. (oog: closing door and stuffing holes next round, since it took up most of Razh's move).

Rillian continued on his way, breaking into a run for some speed. He arrived at the corner, just in time to see Razh duck into the room. The dwarf looked ready to close the door and just as ready to faint from exhaustion.

Nezrak went up the stairs and was now beside Scun.

Scun continued to survey the area. (Unless Brain wants to do something?)

Ogrin and Mona ascended to the top of the stairs and made their way across the water toward the misty-grey light.

The swarm surged toward the dwarf and was now a few feet away from him.

Razh's turn

oog2: I was going to make Razh close the door and start stuffing air-holes. But I saw that he had a clear line to the stairs, if he wants to try it...

Razh's heart drops as soon as he reaches the other side of the door. Clearly, there are far too many holes to plug with the little resources he has, in both materials and time. On the brink of total exhaustion, the red-haired dwarf sees his one last chance. Letting out a wild roar and expending the last bit of his energy, he charges across the room, barreling right through the hellish swarm that threatens his life.

OOC: Aha! A window of opportunity is opened. He can run up to 4x his speed in medium armor, so 120' of movement in a straight line. After this, his rage ends and he'll be staggered. Only 30' of movement per round. We'll see how long he can last with the swarm in pursuit...
