ooc: link - http://www.enworld.org/forum/4834109-post495.html Vashik provides what ever light is necessary to aid in the investigation. The Idol/Key appears to be resonating with the altar and the rift. The audible hum is increasing in proportion to the distance the idol is from the rift. The resonance, while certainly out of Incarnation's field of study, also seems to be timed in rhythm to the pulsing of the rift. In the light of Vashik's spell, Incarnation can see that the strange greenish metal is actually changing color to a more rudy brownish green. Dane carries the idol closer and the sound rises to a crescendo as the pulsing increases in frequency. He is able to slide it into the hole and it fits with a solid thunk pointed towards b. He slides it towards the wavy lines and it rotates in the hole easily almost like it is frictionless. The pulsing is now so rapid that the rift appears to be blinking, and the hum a low pitched whistle. The slime does not appear to have any effect layering the altar with goo. But Dane's blood pools in the small bowl near the brown wavy lines. It beads into a small ball and begins rolling up towards the key. As the bead of blood reaches the key it flashes with a bright yellow light and the whistle grows in pitch and volume. The light consumes the darkness of the rift. Then all of a sudden the light is gone and only Vashik's spell illuminates the area, paling in comparison. The rift is gone as is the idol and the metal piece of the altar that formed the bowls and the symbols. All that is left is a solid stone cask with a great rent in the top of it. ooc: yay someone solved the puzzle! Thanks Nebten.
