D&D 5E Adventures in the Forgotten Realms MtG set Planeswalkers confirmed.

Huh. I wonder if they're gonna do a stupid and have a big novel event herald a game mechanics change to make Drow more strongly "not always evil".

I mean, it's exactly the sort of dumb thing they've done dozens of times before.
That ship sailed with the "War of the Spider Queen" series of novels back in 2002-2005. The series itself does a good job of giving more well-rounded portrayals of drow characters as not-inherently-evil-but-surviving-in-a-dysfunctional-society . . . but at the end, some of the not-evil drow are transformed into, well, not-drow. Dark-skinned but not ebony-black. Although, haven't heard anything since on this, so it doesn't seem to have stuck . . .

Weird thought, but what if the "transcence" was about more then making Drizzt a "Planeswalker", but about setting up one of the next D&D 5e source books like Drizzt's Guide to Dragons, or Drizzt's Guide to the Planes, Drizzt's Guide to the Feywild, or Drizzt's Guide to Faerun?

I mean Drizzt previously really stuck to regions that RA Salvatore was comfortable with, such as the Swordcoast, Calimshan, Underdark, and the Bloodstone Lands, with drift stints in the Shadowfell and other planes.

This transcendence broaden Drizzt's horizons vastly, he was one with the whole multiverse at once, that means every part of the Forgotten Realms and even other D&D settings like Dragonlance and Eberron, so his knowledge could be vaster.

Drizzt is D&D's most popular character and they've been doing alot of different Drizzt collectibles (including life size Drizzt!), video games, etc..., so why not make him the "narrator" of one of the next D&D books, I think he's done it before in previous editions after all.

Drizzt Do'Urden's Guide to the Underdark

Drizzt Do'Urden's Guide to the Underdark in 2e D&D. Now that in 5e he's more more broader in his knowledge of the multiverse, he could do a guide to almost anything.
Drizzt's Guide to Enlightenment.

OK—a big thank you again to everyone who helped me figure out what I want to buy from this set earlier on in this thread. But now I have another question: do these things sell out like high-demand concert tickets as soon as they go on preorder? Because every site I visit to try to preorder the Commander decks says they're already sold out of their allocation . . .
The commander decks can sometimes be hard to find, but usually if you are patient, enough make it out to stores for everybody who wants them. Although, this year things are a bit chaotic with the pandemic causing supply issues, and collectors going crazy over collectibles like Magic, Pokemon, baseball cards . . .

If you want to chase promo cards, that is time-sensitive too for some of them. There is usually a "buy-a-box" promo when you purchase a booster box, these go quick. There are also pre-release promos, and sometimes other promos that require you to be in the right time and place.

But the main set of cards . . . you should have no problem purchasing boosters to build your collection. If you aren't a draft player, I would recommend the set boosters. If you want to also collect alternate art cards, the collectors boosters might interest you also.

The Magic team and D&D are in two different places on this. In D&D they are connected, but in Magic lore they have said Forgotten Realms is not in the Magic multiverse, and spells such as Dream of the Blue Veil don't exist.
Yet. But they also aren’t calling Adventures in the Forgotten Realms a Universes Beyond set, and there was recently a survey about Magic and D&D, which seemed to be trying to gauge crossover between players of each game.

AitFR may be non-canon for now, but I will be very surprised if D&D crossover doesn’t become canon to the Magic story in the not too distant future. Again, unless AitFR tanks.

Collector boosters are full of pringles (foils that curl), my advise is to avoid them.

Missed the "next set" part, so fair enough, I agree in principal with you. But I think there are lore issues, just the kind they are willing to change/ignore
