Adventures with strong intrigue/plot?

Hi,

I'm looking for adventures (from any rule system, really, not just AD&D) that are strong in plot, intrugue and puzzles and not as much in combat. I'm a very green DM, and I'd like to find something for my girlfriend to play that avoids the tedium of a dungeon crawl/mindless exploration.

Thanks!
Simon

For strong in puzzles, any of the Challenge of Champions adventures from Dungeon magazine are ideal. They are 100% puzzle oriented (at least, those I have read), and can be used by any level character).

You could also try The Assassin's Knot (an old AD&D adventure), which you can download on the wizard site.

My favorite intrigue/plot module is The Styes, a murder mystery module that eventually leads the PCs deeper and deeper into Lovecraftian horror. It was published only a few months ago in Dungeon. There's a lot of combat as-written, but it'd be easy to trim a lot of the extraneous fights.

Demiurge out.

Check some of the older free Original Adventures on WotC's site. There are a couple that are already combat-light or could be adapted. For example (names may be approximate):

Manifesting: A Tale
One Last Riddle
Ghosts of Aniel

That makes a good gaming session, but don't pick it if you're looking for mystery stories.

I second that. :)

The Freeport trilogy I highly recommend. What initially starts out as a dissappearance develops into a great plot to bring down the city of Freeport, a rough-and-tumble pirate town. I think Green Ronin is planning on releasing a revised version of it in the near future. Plenty of social interaction, investigation, Cthulu-esque goodness, and swashbuckling action. The citybook is not too bad either.

I also second the Dungeon adventure the Styes, it's in Dungeon 121 (April 2005).
