I've seen a lot of people suggesting to take out the players who have Con as a dump stat. That's fine. What would you suggest for DM's who have players who have Con without penalties, but who just have bad luck with dice.
I let people chose the average of the dice roll, and I let them make that choice after they roll...

Actually, I don't even bother checking HP rolls. If I can come up with something that will easily waste the 25 HP PCs, it will usually do the same to the 50 HP PCs as well...

But if you care, I would suggest my first but of advice.

Rune : Good advise in general (verging on Rat Barstardness, in fact), but this camp is too dependent on the PC for it to work. As for having him enslaved by the bad guys... would it put in in perpective if I said that he currently works for the Dark Powers of Ravenloft (via Acererak, former demilich, now Embodiment of the Negative Plane, serving as their mouthpiece for reason of it's own), and has in the past allied himself with an illithid that vivisected three of his friends in front of his eyes, and tortured him to near-insanity for weeks on end, all for the possibility of a little more personal power? That he has a template called Child of Fear, and now feasts on raw human terror rather than blood?

Marimmar : Firstly - you're right... although he's an enchanter as it was one of the weakest possible classes in 2nd Ed (no evocation, was the key point as I recall). See, we didn;t have this new-fangled ECL's in my day...we had to make our own game blanaces, out of eggs and bits of wood !
Secondly... your 2) idea is one of the most delectably sadistic thing I've heard in... minutes ! Good show

Qvintus : I apologise for hijacking your thread. I Am A Horrible Monster, And Pray For Death.

I have a few characters in my group who have Con's above 11 but the dice hate them. One is a 13th level Fighter with 65 Hp. I know you aren't going to say she should be punished for random rolls of HP.
Don't use random hit points. I think very few groups use 100% random hit point rolls. Most allow them to take average roll -0.5 (as per the DMG), or have some other mechanic. I like mine: you roll normally, but the minimum hit points gained is half the number of the HD -1. (Rogues get a minimum of 2, Fighters a minimum of 4).

But that's an entirely different subject which has been discussed at nauseum, so let's just get back to this thread.

To the Dm of the half Vampire: Make him find an amulet of health or something like that. In a 1 on 1 cmapign there are no issues with balance between the players anyway :)
