Does anyone have this? Anyone recommend it? What new dragons are in it?

Good ideas, though the game material is a little weak in places.

For example, the dragon alchemy section has tons of neat ideas that fit well in a game thematically, but the rules for it are way too giving. In my game I just use those lists as "possible uses", but use a variant of the power component rules (the creature's parts, if properly harvested, can be used as a power component for the item of a value up to HD^2*10 XP).

Some of the "normal" prestige classes are neat but the "dragon" prestige classes are just powered up "core" classes.

The cosmology and dragon deities are pretty neat (if inconsistant). I almost wish those sections were OGC, so I have a springboard other than WotCs to work from with impunity.

The new dragons are a bit confusing. The only ones that seem to have complete stats are unique specimens. The other dragons are missing any sort of age advancement table. One of the authors says that this is because they are applied like templates to normal dragons. The problems with that is that they don't look like templates (i.e., it includes things like absolute CR and HD advancement) and it is not clear at all from the description that is how they are to be used.

So in short, lots of good ideas, but some of the rules will take some work to use right.

I have it. Its OK, but I don't think it's worth the price ($25 I think). There is no new type of dragon in it... it is basically a guide to fighting dragons. Its interesting to read, but there is very little that you can actually take and use in a game. Just my two cp.

Yeah, I flipped through it at my local gaming store but didnt have a chance to go through it. There is supposed to be a dragon slayer prestige class in the next issue of Dragon. I guess I'll make do with that and old issues of Dragon and any new material that comes out in Dragon.

Maybe the Slayers Guide to Dragons by EGG will be better...

I have it. I like it. It's definitely got some interesting tidbits in it. The Dragon Alchemy is scary, actually. I let one of my Players read it (he plays a Necromancer) and his character DOES have a lot of ranks in Alchemy, so I let him it.

They killed a green dragon, and he harvested its parts for all they were worth, making sure everything was properly preserved with Gentle Repose, and everything was tossed on a cart. The other characters objected, but he kept them on the intent that he was going to use them for the "better of the party"...

Boy were they pissed at him when the dragons MATE found the wagon full of parts left outside of the ruined castle.... along with all of the party's gold and such. Everything was destroyed, and the gold was all fused together after the wizard's fireball was too close to the wagon carrying the cold... BWAHAHAHAAA! He learned his lesson... :D

But yeah, get Dragons discounted, if you can. I'd rather have hardcovers for 25 bucks...
