AEG's Mercenaries: Mercenary Ranger class

Any thoughts on this class?

On a surface skim it seems overpowerful to me in comparrision with the core class ranger and the monte ranger.

Possibly even in comparrision to the core class fighter.

Anyone done a more detailed analysis or perhaps even tried it out?

after building the files to put this puppy into PCGen I have come to the conclusion that this class is balanced due to the fact that you have to pick your options that you would normally get as a ranger but not with this class.

I like it because you can choose to give it a more traditional feel or go for the gusto of being a straight out woodsy fighter sans spells.


I like having options and that's what this book is all about..look for it in pcgen soon! I am workin on the equipment now and races,feats,skills,classes are all done..

Huh? I find Monte's ranger overpowered. The AEG ranger might be a bit more powerful than the core ranger (it can almost gives you the same result with the addition of favored, but it's not front-loaded) but I would allow it where I would not allow monte's ranger.

I've only looked at Monte's ranger for a few mins, and I noticed the d8 hit dice as the primary balancer.

The mercenaries Ranger seemed to have more benifits than a fighter, and yet have d10 hit die.

Perhaps I should give the monte ranger a more detailed look.

I've stopped using PCGen for a number of reasons.

I was about to add Occult Lore and Seafarers handbook right as I left... Have those been added yet?

I've noticed that if something misses it's -buzzword time phase- it never seems to make it into the app.

The AEG Ranger seems ok to me. Am I the only one who thinks this supplement kicks a lot of random buttocks?? I really like some of the new feats, and also appreciated some of the chunky bits in the book.
