AEG's Toolbox

John Crichton

First Post
I've heard a slew of good things about this book. I'm waiting for either my FLGS, Enworld's shop or a local retailer to get it in. Any ideas on where to pick it up? I've looked all over online with no luck. AEG's site has a seller but I like to order a few things at once if I order online.

Also, for those of you who have it: Any good? :)

I don't have but have looked through it. It has lots of tables and options for details in one's game. I think if the DM takes the time to use it cool be really cool, but it might be one of those things that you don't realize you are missing until you have and use it.

I've seen exactly one copy, and bought it.

It's been very handy for me, though more for ideas than actual random generation of events. All in all, I'd say it was one of the better RPG purchases I've made in the past year.

I picked it up, and I'm very pleased with the Toolbox. There is a large chunk of material that I won't be using (I don't use random combat encounters - I hand-tailor all of the encounters beforehand). But so much of it is useful.

3 pages worth of items that could be found from pickpocket results.
A list of variant types of druid 'groves'.
And much more.

A lot of the material I glean from this book, I could do on my own. But realistically, I would never allot the time for it. So I'm very pleased to have it in my grubby hands.

I found it sometime ago at my local store, here is a link to a blip I put on the boards about it...

I have found it a very useful tool, not just from a design point of view but also helps at the table.
I usually use the search function, and had I actually done it this time I would have found your original post and simply added to it. Doh! Thanks for the link/feedback. :)

Now, based upon what everyone has said I want this thing. I just don't have the time to put together tables and tables of info. Has anyone seen it at an major retailer in their area or have any idea when it will be available at a place like amazon.com or even here?

That is what surprises me, my original post was done on 02/06/2003...I would have thought it could be found at one of the shops by now!

My FLGS carries pretty much everything and they had it as soon as it came out. I don't know about chains since I don't shop at them for RPG stuff.

Me either, at least not unless someone gives me a gift certificate. My FLGS carries an okay variety of books but I won't be able to get there until the weekend (where I'd probably have to place a special order) and I was hoping to purchase it sooner than that. They are a good option because I get a rockin' discount on everything I buy there (20%) so I should probably just wait. Considering it's been out for a month now I figured more places would have it like Hand of Evil mentioned...
