It was the exploding (not imploding) monitors that I was thinking of. That type of nonsense has always bothered me - shooting a monitor does not destroy the computer! (I actually know someone who did shoot his monitor... I do not have much to do with him since that...) And there are (if I remember properly) a few grenades as well. I did not watch the whole thing, it was too painful to my brain.
Comparing the physics in Equilibrium to those in anime actually explains much of my dislike for the movie - I generally hate most anime for that very reason. (Studio Ghibli releases being a major exception.

I'll check it out. The tech looks very cool, so I can probably get by with the cool eye-candy. Tried watching the actual series but never could get into it.
