After alot of hard work, I have one of my maps ulpaded (Thanks Kreynolds!!)

Keep in mind that this is still a work in progress . I would love to get everyone's opinion on this map, I put alot of work into it in photoshop.

My girlfriend and I did the basic structure using the stronghold builder's guide and everything in it is built up from there. I'll get the Stronghold specs tomorrow and post them.

Here are two jpg's of a map I made for a noble-wizard's house (fairly high res jpg's btw):

(Yes, that is one HUGE bed)

And here is the photoshop file, it's the same resolution as the jpg's but it's all in layers (for you photoshop gurus out there) and you guys are welcome to grab pieces from it as long as no one makes any money from it .

One thing I know right off, the doors are too big, right now they are 5' wide. A bit huge. I'll go in later on and tone them down. Also, it might look a bit too sterile, but it is supposed to be a newly-built house, so we'll see...

Very, very, very nice. Makes me want to come up with something to use it for.

Could you give us the backstory on the building? And are the symbols on the flagstones on the 2nd floor anything in particular, or just decorative?

It's in the Castle Ward in Waterdeep, it's owned by a an adventuring couple, Rube (her nickname, real name Ruana) and Sharantyr Al'Shabli. Sharantyr is from Mulhorand Rube from Athktatla in Amn. Sharantyr spends most of his time hunting down Thayan Red Wizards, Rube spends most of her time looting the corpses .

The double circle on the 2nd floor library is his sigil, the hawk is the holy-symbol of Horus-Re. Each of the symbols in the marble tile in the library represents a school of magic, the symbols are in the Southern dialect of Draconic, a secret magical writting (see Old Empires for more on that, normal Read Magic doesn't work on it).

The bathroom is done with a tatami floor and screen imported from Wa. The massive bed is of drow make, from the city of Cheth Rhin (where Sharantyr has some contacts). I hope that helps set up a little bit of the background.


I will say that I am surprised to only hear one opinion on this map. Is the link not working or just looks sucky?

Nice... A very polished look. I like it.

Unfortunately I have yet to attain such a high level of skill.

However I did notice that the floor pattern doesn't tile seamlessly.

Regardless... Your maps are impressive. Thanks for sharing.

You mean the wood flooring? Yeah I know, like I said, still a work in progress. I was saving that for last. I might go in each room and do individual wood-flooring styles.

Well, Aravis - my guess would be that most of us are just jealous so refuse to dignify your map with an answe-- oh, shoot. Well, since I've already screwed up, I have to tell you that those things are amazing. Working on downloading the Photoshop version now. I especially like the open 'balcony' over the stairs on the second floor. Good job.

Aren't layers are wonderful! I'm still learning to use them.

It's ALOT of work, so it's not that I'm that good, just patient . My girlfriend plays in our group and she used the Stronghold Builder's Guide to design the house her character and I share. She designed it, drew it out on graph paper, etc. I decided to help her out and made a "fancy" version in photoshop . Took a long tme though, lol and I'm still working on it, but it's at a stage right now that I feel comfortable sharing it .

I like your database idea. I think you should move on it.
